Rotating side mirror doesn't come back up?
I picked up my 128 vert a couple of days ago and I'm still getting oriented with it. I know that the passenger side mirror will rotate down when I'm backing up to help with parallel parking. But it doesn't always seem to do it, and worse, it doesn't always come back to my preferred orientation when I'm driving. Is it supposed to? Is there a speed threshold?
thanks, amy! |

amy, it's supposed to tilt down when you have the switch to one side. if you've tried it in various positions and it still doesn't work, it should be an easy fix at your dealer.

Amy, have the mirror adjuster selector switch set to the driver's side window. That's the only position it will auto tilt from, for reversing.

I was told that the switch has to be toward the passenger side for it to control that mirror automatically. And it does work sometimes.
But is it supposed to come back when you switch back to drive? amy! |

Switch is has to be set to the driver's side for it to work. If you have it set on the passenger mirror, that's the problem. Take a look at the manual...

If the switch is set to the driver's side and the mirror still doesn't tilt, you either don't have the premium package (note to the admin: we need a :-P smiley) or there is a problem somewhere between the switch and the mirror motor.

Well, with the switch in the driver's side position it does move down. But it still doesn't always move back up. Seems like when I'm actually paying attention, it works properly. But if I don't pay attention, then I'll glance over while I'm driving and find it pointing down.
I haven't seen a specific pattern yet, but I'll have to try to keep closer tabs on it to see if I need to have it better resolved. amy! |

This may be your problem, and I have to say it took me awhile to figure it out sadly. I was parked one day and set my seat just were I wanted and saved the setting. Well....come to find out I saved it with the car off and in Reverse...thus the mirror was pointed down. So, everytime I let someone sit in my car, etc and I would hit my #1 set option it would lower the mirror to the reverse position were I saved it I guess and I would drive off....look over later in the drive.....and be pissed thinking the same thing you are that my auto up is not working. Hope this is the case for you too and I solved your problem. Just resave your seat button while driving with the mirrors where you want them.

This was a very good thread to read. That sounds like a very easy mistake to make, and it would have driven me crazy until I figured it out if it happened to me.
I can only imagine what would go on with a dealer trip for something like this. I wonder how many of the techs have seen this happen and know what's going on? I can see these guys changing a bunch of parts trying to fix somethign that isn't really anything more than a setting. |

My passenger mirror tilt but does not go back to the right position. It does not even always go back to the same position. Keep in mind that I got the car 2 weeks ago so I might be the problem. I though I would verify before going to the dealer. Anyone would have any ideas?

The dealer diagnosed it as the same malady I suffer with - CRS (Can't Remember Stuff), and promptly replaced the offending mirror under warranty. Tom |

I don't think its a premium package only feature. I don't have the premium package and my mirrors still tilt in reverse.
