1 series tii grille

Hello fellow 1addicts I had a question about the grille from the tii concept. I have seen the pictures of the shadowline front grille but on the tii concept the grill vents are angled rather than just vertical. I googled a picture to help explain. Is this grille available or am i just seeing things?

No, you are right. It is a different grill and looks MUCH beter than the shadowline. I do not know if you can purchase this however...

I'd buy a pair once someone starts selling these with the shadowline trim instead of chrome. IMO that grill design makes the 1er look a bit sexier. :P

yes i agree that grill makes the 1er look hot. I think the regular grill looks dated and i mean it is one of bmw's trademark characteristics but i think this concept grill sets it apart from all the previous generation bimmers.

I've known the difference with the lines but that's not what really makes this grill stand out as compared to the shadowline. The inside of the grill is dark on both, so it basically disappears, such as any dark color makes something disappear - at least for the purposes of contrast which gives your eyes most of the impression of the image (that's why people wear black to hide their weight).

The reason why this looks so much better than shadowline grill is that the chrome outline is retained. I hear the grills are 2 piece, so you can combine the stock chrome outline with the shadowline lines to get a very similar effect to the tii.

if you want black grills with chrome outline, all 128i's get them. Just trade with one of them.

Looks real nice, but more restrictive, and I wouldn't want anything potentially added heat in there.

It definitely has holes (you could pop it out and grate some Parmigiano Reggiano on it, in a pinch), but nowhere near as open as the stock slatted ones.

All4One is spot on with the bug magnet comment though.

Full agreement with the restrictive-flow/bug-trap comments, plus, to my eyes it isn't that terrific looking, how will that 'look' hold up in 10 years?

We will be offering matte black replacements in the coming weeks but they retain the stock grill look.
