Take it back in to the Dealership and let them figure it out and fix that for you .... keep us posted on what you find out.

Sound eerily familiar to a thread on e90post:

It's tethered, so it shouldn't come completely off. If it's gone, then somebody (unfortunately) probably stole it... for no good reason.

Is it? I haven't messed with mine but while waiting for our paperwork to be finished I pried the front cover off the front of a black '35 and a) it came off really easily w/my fingernail and b) certainly wasn't tethered to anything...

Unfortunately, someone more than likely stole it. It is common and I have seen cases of people stealing the headlight washer covers as well (believe it or not).

I will be installing a poisonous asp behind my tow hook cover. Try stealing that, thieves!! That is strange that people would steal that though. I've heard people still the little valve stem covers too.

I shit you not, but mine fell off when i drove it home from the dealer. I had to argue and fight with them to state that it was either their fault from not putting it in properly, someone disloged it on the dealer prep or that it was a design fault. Expecting me to pay some $300 for a small painted peice of plastic 30mins after buying my car seemed a bit rich.
Fortunately after leaning on my sales rep he came through in the end, and made it seem as though he did me the biggest favor in the world.
