BMW Alarm System

http://accessories.bmwusa.com/ItemVi...productId=1036

I wonder if its pre-wired. I know when I had my MINI it was and it only took me about an hour to install it myself and that included replacing the blinker stalk (flash red light on the end). I just had to take it in and have them activate it.

BMW's have been pre-wired for years. The Alarm kit usually consists of a Siren and motion sensor. You will have to go to the dealer to get it programmed.

In E46's at least, the wiring was there but not the module. I suspect something similar now.

If you look closely they all come pre-wired for alarm, bluetooth, cd changer, and something else that I can't think of right now.

What is cool about the alarm thing is that you can have the dealer program it to think it's there and have the horn and lights flash when locking or unlocking the car.

I will have this done to the 1 as well. Actually I am hoping I can get the PCD people to this.

The motion sensor is already in our cars. The kit that you buy consists of a siren and the alarm module. You'll need to have it activated at a BMW center, but installing it is a snap. Plug n play.

The car has settings that you can change (sans alarm) for setting the headlight blink when locking/unlocking.

That's neat. They didn't use to include the alarm module.

I should be getting one free of charge because of the delayed delivery I've encountered.

On my '04 330ci I only installed the siren and motion switch. The module was already there.

Never mind I read that incorrectly. We are saying the same thing actually.
