What Air Filter Is Everyone Using?
Interested to see what non OEM filters folks are using. Not specifically interested in the air filters that are different styles than stock.

There’s only two options… BMC and PE. K&N is a bit junky regardless of platform in my opinion. I’m holding my breath that AFE will just cave and make a drop in panel filter even though they decided to go the full intake route for some stupid reason. Until then, charcoal filters out and go with whatever. FYI, you don’t need to worry about oiled filters on this engine as it’s purely MAP based, in case you were overly concerned about that due to MAF sensitivity with some oiled media people usually worry about.

Another vote for BMC and removal of the stock charcoal filters.

There is a tiny bit of gain by removing those filters and anything you do pre turbo is just to allow it to do a little less work to flow. Yes, the stock intakes are pretty efficient, which is why personally I replace the intake hoses from the stock boxes to the turbos, remove charcoal filters and just use a better filter than the paper ones in terms of flow and ability to just clean them. Personally I like AFE Dry ones, but they don’t make one for the S58 for some stupid reason, so gotta find something else in the meantime. But that’s just me…

with a stock tune you gain nothing. this was confirmed by mishimoto when testing their intake vs stock intake on a dyno: https://youtu.be/oKXxK5URbmA?si=7oVPRcSOIl-q2Ae4
