XM Radio?

Hey all! I have searched through the forums but was unable to find anything on this so please forgive me if this is a repost... I am about to place an order for my 128i, I wanted to get Satellite radio but really prefer Xm Radio to Sirius... I have heard of a product called XM direct that will allow me to seemlessly integrate the XM with the car. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you know if I would have to order the Sirius initially so as to use the steering wheel controls with the xm direct? I will ask my dealer about this too, but thought yall might be able to give some more insight! Thanks in advance! Oh and add me to the list of those who want Sedona Red... but are a bit timid to actually order it...

You'll have to go aftermarket. Besides, the merger should go thru sometime this year so they'll be one in the same anyways.

I have a MINI with the XM Direct kit. It works awesome and you do not need to order Sirus first.

However, Blitzsafe, teh company that makes the kit, has decided not to continue with an XM Direct kit for the newer BMWs.

Here is a link to the thread that talks about it at their site. (I am Lee L on that board.) http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_forum...PagePosition=1

Please contact them and ask for this if you want it as they might change their minds.

I also prefer XM over Sirius too. I was also wondering if I could go aftemarket instead of playing close to 600$ with BMW Sat radio.

Gang, I'm going to move this to the Audio section, in the hope of more hits . . .

THe XM Direct was much cheaper than the BMW/MINI Sirius. Even at the introductory price it was only $300.

Please contact Blitzsafe on this as they are probably the only hope for a truly integrated system.

Is there still no hope for integrated XM in the 1 series? It doesn't seem like Blitzsafe is interested in producing anything.

I'd hate to run an unsightly unit somewhere in the car.

Have you contacted them and asked? My guess is they are waiting until the merger crap shakes out.

For combined signals of XM and Sirius, they have reported that there will need to be hardware changes. The Sirius integration module might need to be redesigned, before BMW offers it.
