135i ordered :-)

Just placed an order for a 135i - Le Mans blue, 'lemon' leather, pretty much all the kit apart from sunroof, tinted glass, towbar, active steering and ski-bag, none of which I need or want.

Complete change from the RS4 (well, apart from being a petrol engined car with two turbochargers of course  ).

I had some questions about discounts. Basically, don't expect anything at all - my local dealer has sold 7 of his allocation of 9 at full price. I was lucky enough to be able to pull in a favour via a friend to get something off via another dealer, but even faced with me with my debit card out ready to give them a deposit my local dealer wasn't able or willing to budge.

Anyone want to buy a very well maintained, very quick, very blue RS4 (with 95k on the clock)?

Nice work Clived congrats....did you just pay market price then? No discount at all? So supriced even though i wish the delears would follow target prices they dont have to as tey know they can sell their allocation easily
I think the 135i is going to be very rare not just in the UK but worldwide
Out of interest did you get the new package that BMW have just announced...e.g the new breaks and racing seats etc remember you had mentioned that in a previous post

Hi Clived, have you driven the 135i at all? I would be very interested in hearing your views on how the 135 drives compared to the RS4. (well at least understeer should be nothing new to you  as I believe the RS4 is no stranger to understeer)

UK: I did get a reasonable discount, but via pulling in a personal favour. My local dealer couldn't match it - in fact, they wouldn't do any discount at all....! The BMW Performance brakes won't really add much to the 135i (good kit as standard) and the seats (well everything!) isn't out yet - although I don't think I'll be going for them. I might go for the exaust, air intake and short shift.

SA: Yes, I test drove the 135i. My (2001) RS4 is quite modified - including stiffer ARBs, so it actually handles fairly well, but the 135i is obviously a totally different car - RWD, much smaller, less power For me, the fact it made me smile was the crucial factor!

Cheers Clived....Really pleased to hear you got a discount. I think it is going to be much harder to get one now!! I think it is going to be a beauty of a car but then you have had a great car in the RS4 so the 135i has alot to live up to

There are at least 3 online brokers offering up to 2k off - I wonder if this might be wishful thinking though in light of your experience. I'll definitly be calling them first though rather than banging my head against the wall with BMW. The dealer I test drove with weren't moving - maybe free floor mats or something silly like that. (Think they're standard now anyway!)

to be honest Nutkins...i looked at the online brokers to start with and they were very useful and a starting point and you can get pretty much the same type of discount on the car maybe not quite as good through a delear but very nearly you just need to speak to 2/3 delears to get the best price is my advice and tell them you know the online situation with regards to pricing

Just be aware and this is why i did not go through the brokers in the end. I personally think you get much more personal service through a delear. I like the fact i can build up a relationship with the delear i chose out of the 2 or 3 i spoke to orginally. But then i am much more of a face to face type of person. Also if you are going to part exchange the best price on the internet you always have to add about £250/300 to the price on the best deal you can find

Really good luck with it though, i would be very interested to hear how you get on as it might be harder for you as allocations are quickly running out

just to make you feel a little better my floor mats were definately not standard!!

Floor mats are now standard ;-)

I got more than £2k off, but then, as I said, I was a favour and secondly my totalt price still ended up at nearly £37k, so I guess there was a little room to move.

Are the mats standard now because everyone thought it was joke they were not in the first place?! Must be.

I must say clived i am surprised that it cost you as much as 37k I did not think it could get to be that much. I did not get electric seats or navigation so i suppose that is nearly 3k in itself - it all adds up and i got quite a few extras. So if i had got those and a few other mine would have been close to 36K. Clived when did the dealer say yours would arrive May/June??

I've gone through a broker and saved over £2k, within 30 mins i got a call from the dealer which they put me in touch with, paid the deposit and saved over a month on the order line. Well worth it as my local dealer wouldn't budge a quid!

All: Are we all talking about the 135i here? Due to the low target sales and therefore low allocations, discounts on the 135i are somewhat harder to come by than the higher volume 120 / 123d - I'm going to be very impressed if everyone has got over £2k off their 135i!

UK135i. Due sometime April - fingers crossed. Re the price, quite a big spec on mine, guess it all adds up! My on the road price, before discount, was £38,233! Could have gone higher still with active steering, sunroof, tow bar, ski through-load and tinted windows, so well over £40k is possible!!! :

Clived that is a very cool optioned car. I have to admit i got quite a few options which were. Xenon headlights, front parking sensor, USB, Bluetooth, professional radio, metalic paint and black leather seats, floor mats (when i ordered they were not standard), headlamp washer. One thing i am sad about but i just could not afford it as my previous car has it is the 6 cd changer. I think i will miss that quite alot but then with the USB we have our mp3 players which is great!! I obviously got all the add ons that you have on your list with no price apart from the BMW assist

Also sorry forgot to say i am most definately getting the 135i and i cannot wait

I agree i would be amazed if all delears were giving out £2k discounts

Have you had lemon coloured leather before Clived reason i ask i was very tempted to get it but i have a dog and i just thought it woul get way too dirty. I have to say i do love your colour combination though

Not had lemon before, but had light beige in my 535d, and it always came clean if looked after properly. No dogs though! Where in the UK are you?
