tire life?

hi - i'm not very knowledgable on cars. can anyone tell me how long the 135i standards tires can reasonably be expected to last (in terms of distance travelled) with fair to hard driving (on occasion)?

thanks.

They last anywhere from 9k miles to 30k miles, based on how you drive. NJKSC27 gave a great guess.

They only have a 140 wear rating, and are pretty sticky, even though they are runflats. The stiffer sidewalls make the tires wear a bit faster than a more pliable non-runflat.

BMW is historically aggressive on rear negative camber too, so expect the insides of those tires to wear out sooner than the outsides. I've heard of people swapping the runflat tires on the wheels, but the tires are clearly marked "outside".

You can read about UTQG ratings here. It's basically the wear rating.. or how long the tire will last. The lower the number, the stickier the tire, but the quicker it wears out.

A 140 rating is on the threshold of what would be considered a street tire, and lower than that is generally regarded as an R Compound (or racing tire), and usually regarded as such in autosport classes.

Most people who had Run Flats on MINIs replaced their original tires between 15k and 25k. I replaced mine at 18,500 miles.
