Is it Logic 7?

Hi, was anybody able to confirm if the system will be Logic 7? For me, this is really important, I don't want to go aftermarket again for stereo equipment, and I'm worried the premium sound system isn't any good. Thanks!

The consensus is neither the base nor the upgraded stereo are Logic 7.

The BMW USA website has been updated and no longer shows Logic7 as the 1 Series audio upgrade. Instead, it shows a "Premium 8 speaker sound system"...

My 2007 120d (LCI) has a Logic 7 stereo system - it was an option for me.

I'm not sure if you get different choices (or less) in the US with your BMWs??

The sound system in my 135i is the one with DSP (the higher one of the two in option in Europe) and it IS Logic7. Non the brochure or other nor any other info provided by my dealer said it was Logic7, but it does have a Logic7 menu into de iDrive to choose concert hall, etc. environments.

Only if you get the upgraded radio WITH the iDrive will it be Logic7 ....! If you don't get Nav/iDrive than the components are the same, you just don't have the digital processor, nor the wattage.

I am personally in a conundrum over this. Because I do not need/want a NAV system. But I do want the LOGIC7. I might have to either get the iDrive, or just go aftermarket on the Audio system with a cleaner sound. Either way you still get 10 speakers, just not the amp or dsp.

I'm so confused on the Hi-FI option without i-drive. I read somewhere that the Hi Fi upgrade gives you a subwoofer under each seat in the front. So if I don't get i-drive and oder the hi-fi do I end up with 10 speakers, no amp, and no logic 7? And anymore info on the subs? Starting to thinks the $875 isn't worth the money. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

In the UK there are 3 audio / speaker choices:

1) Stock
2) Upgraded HiFi
3) Logic 7

To get either option 2 or 3 you must also select Professional CD/Radio over the standard Business CD/Radio.

I have chose Logic 7 and it costs £710 in the UK which is also the same price as on the E90/92.

Not sure if that helps anyone?

The same in Australia, except they're called:
1) AM/FM Radio with in dash CD player
2) HiFi 10 Speaker System
3) HiFi 10 Speaker System Professional

Only option 3) has the Logic 7 DSP unit. Option 1) has 6 speakers. The 10 speakers are of different quality between options 2) and 3).

Thanks for that - I wasn't sure the UK spec DSP was the Logic 7. I do know that it sounded awesome :biggrin:.

There was one other option as well: individual sound system - not sure what that entails, but given the DSp sounded so sweet, I didn't bother to find out!!

In Australia you can get the Logic 7 (Hi-Fi Professional) without i-drive, and I think it would be available this way in the US. The head unit with logic 7 has a 2 line display and the DSP processor, all the settings you can access on the i-drive screen can be accessed via the 2 line dot matrix display on the upgraded logic 7 head unit. The head unit has a higher output per channel than the cheaper head unit and there is a separate multi channel amp the the rear of the car to drive the subs. The display also acts as a read out for aother car info, Mp3 data, phone names etc. The i-drive screen may show a group of bars lined up for the sound frequency adjustment but as I said it can be all done throught the head unit if you do not opt for i-drive.

It may not be called Logic 7 but it has the same 7 channel digital DSP amplifier as the logic 7 system. The speaker size, type and placement may be different to the 3,5 and 7 series logic 7 systems but I know it sounds better than the base systems.

Please bear in mind that it is a little old a refers to the 1 Series hatchback.

This brochure says the professional hi-fi from BMW is a 300W system but according to my dealer information (confirmed in www.bmw.de) it has 4x40W tweeters, 4x40W mid-range speakers, and 2x70W subwoofers.
