Car firmware needs to be updated. Newer version will allow it with bimmercode.
Otherwise you can get a patch. I’d recommend the firmware update.

. It looks like you have a high enough build to not require a firmware update.
I used bimmercode in expert mode to enable full screen iirc. It was 2 yrs ago though

How can you tell the firmware version from a picture? I originally had my 2019 with a patch for full screen carplay, then the car went in for a repair which required a firmware update, after that bimmercode was able to ‘switch on’ fscp in normal mode.
Firmware update needs to be done I believe by the dealer, but I do think there are some folks on this forum who’ve identified third party folks that can do it.

I did the same thing for my 2019. I went through oem navigations. They send you a program file that you run on a laptop connected to the obd2 port through an enet cable. Cost around $40 for the file.

Sorry I misunderstood your original post. I thought you said you had firmware version S and i thought that would allow coding to enable full screen car play. It turns out you need to have NBT_EVO_X or later (I have NBT_EVO_Y)

If under warranty, if you complain to the dealer that your idrive is suffering random idrive reboots, the first solution by them is to update hte firmware (FOC)

Out of warranty, you will need to pay for the ID f/w upgrade or get a third party coder to do it for you with an ENET cable

Can you get this screen from your nav menu? .

Is there literally nowhere online to get the files to DIY? I have an ENET cable and technical savvy -- I'd prefer to spend an hour or so doing this myself.

Look for esys and latest psdzdata full. Then flash the headunit. This should get you to latest firmware which can allow you to enable fullscreen through coding.
