Hello everyone! basically as the title states. I recently purchased a 2018 X3 M40i... it is suchh a nice car. It's my first SAV bimmer and I really love driving it. Even stock the thing is super powerful and makes great noise in sport/sport+ but can really get quite too in comfort. Pics of the car right now are below!

Although I love the car as it is now, in my previous cars ive always changed cosmetics to get a more personalized look.

Here are the two things im sure I want to do, theyre pretty basic
- tint all around incl. windshield, ceramic to get the UV filter benefit
- hardwired dash cam for front and rear
- front lip/splitter

A few ideas ive thought about
- lower the car/suspension
- blacked out grill/accents (they are grey on the M40 which is nice too)
- software tune

the tune is something I probably wouldn't prioritize right now. I get 23-25mpg and I do drive a lot. Not in a rush to get that number below 20 haha. I think I want to focus on cosmetic things right now since the car is plenty fast stock, and being a 2018 it crackles and pops tons when in sport/sport+.

let me know what you all think! Any photos of the ideas I have (or you have) would be much appreciated as well! (interior mods welcome as well, ive seen a few on the forum that piqued my interest)

So many things….here’s three to start :

Maxton front splitter

Debadge the rear

Aftermarket wheels (forged if you have the bread) w/ correct offset so they’ll be flush to the lip without needing spacers…preferably black in color

Huh. I just realized... yours has badging above tail lights.
Mine has it below.

New mirror caps! My m40 is silver so I've left them (for now) but I definitely think going for black or CF would look AMAZING on that blue!

I think the 2018's have it above, mine are above the taillights as well.

Ha yeah I noticed that! I think it was just the first MY that had it this way… not sure which I like more!

Yeah I’m looking at various front splitters now. I’d want one that i could easily install myself without drilling holes.

Any thoughts on lowering the car? This one has the adaptive M suspension so I’m not sure I wanna mess with it too much. If I do I think 10mm spacers would look nice though.

Go 15mm on the spacers; trust me

If you have the skills to do the HR/Eichbach/etc spring install (there is an excellent spring installion thread here somewhere) or if you have a shop you 💯 trust not to screw it up, do it

I lack the skills and there is no one locally I trust enough for that job

Re the splitter; again there is a good thread here re different brands and installation. I don’t believe ANYONE here has put one on using ONLY adhesive tape though. You pretty much need to drill; I’ve got 15 small bolts/washers securing mine. It’s not difficult at all but a second pair of hands will make the job infinitely easier
