should i be concerned
Looking at buying a new to us 2019 x3. It is fully loaded with real leather, hud, advanced Cruze, and cooled seats. The only thing is it has 40k miles and no warranty. It's priced $3-4000 below a 2020,2021.
I have a 2009 335i with 125k miles and I have been maintaing it myself for 10 years. So I kinda know BMW's and the forum helps alot. I do not see many problems with the 2.0 turbo engine or trans (zf) I assume. It's at a BMW dealer and a clear carfax. Should I hold out for 2020,2021 with fewer options and a warranty? |

Sounds like a nice car. The savings would most likely offset any minor issues. I certainly hope / expect a 5 year old bmw with 40k still be in rather ideal condition. Many did not drive much when the covid bug was around.

Subscribed to follow the logic of OP, on ID6 over ID7.

I vote for MY20 at least, but sounds like your mind is partially made up...

Agreed that ID7 is probably worth getting but newer cars also tend to be de-contented.
Either way, the used car market is still bizarre despite the recent drops in price so not getting a super break for the additional "content". |

Now, the electronics are a lot more complicated now, but I think you hit the nail on the head with the forum comment. As these get into the hands of more enthusiasts with slimmer budgets, most common issues will be solvable with ista and simple diy instructions. I've been doing all my own work for the last 5 years or so, and plan to continue doing so, even though I expect it will get a bit more complicated when my g80 falls out of warranty. I'm in the market to buy a g01 and wouldn't hesitate to buy a well maintained used example, though I will likely buy new since I'm very picky about what I want, as well as color (I don't want one in black, white, or German leasing silver).
