A Choice of 18" Wheels -- 261M-Style Look Hot!
All those official pictures of the 135i show it equipped with 264-style five spoke wheels.
According to the German dealer brochure, there are three additional wheel styles to be available (207M, 263, and 261M): http://www.mediafire.com/?8z0agjj0vgz The 261M wheels are new, for front 215/40 R18 and rear 245/35 R18 tires. In my opinion, the double-five (i.e. ten) spoke 261M-style wheels make the car look much sportier, though they may be a bit more difficult to clean. They tend to look lighter than the 264-style, but what really counts is which of the two has the lowest angular momentum. Since BMW doesn't provide data, the best way to test this is to simultaneously let both wheels roll down a gentle incline that levels off to a long horizontal surface, side by side. Whichever wheel has traveled the farthest upon stopping is the one to get, because it will accelerate faster, brake better, go faster, and consume less energy, even if it would happens to weight the same as the other one. Reverse positions on the second trial to confirm the result. With Photoshop, it ought to be possible to get an idea what the car would look like with the 261M-style wheels. Do people agree that these wheels give the car a sportier look? Can anybody find out if they also have less momentum? |

261 is good but kinda plain.. 5 spoke doubles are played out.. I say go for forged deep dish aftermarket wheels.. They will be lighter and u get to stand out..
Cool Brochure, thanks |

Very interesting to see how the production US-spec 135i will look. There are a bunch of things like interior trim bits and clearly wheels that have not be revealed yet.

i actually really really like the 264s. i generally am a bigger fan of split 5 spoke wheels but those dont look all that good to me, i dunno why; might look a lot better in person. with even somewhat similar spoke designs the inertia is going to be pretty close assuming theyre the same width, weight difference will give you about as much of an idea as youll get.

Yes it will. I actually uploaded that file. Glad to see people are using it. I thought that price was a big jump from the 130i which I believe starts at 33,200 (3 door). The bump from the 330 to the 335 was only around 2-3,000 if my memory serves me correctly.

When I see the brochure I think the styling 208M wheel is replaced by the 261M wheel.
I think I like the 208M (18") wheel better than the 261M |

If the offsets aren't too low for the 135i, then I really want to get a set of the Style 189's that come with the sport package option on the 335i convertible.

I think my OEM M Roady wheels style 224 (18") would look great on the 135.
Similar to the 264s but slotted

Now that is a P-cop I'd love to see. Big, open, angular 5 spokes will add some aggression to this car and go well with the design IMO. What do these wheels weigh? -Mahlzeit |
