Question I'm new and need HELP! "my windshiled"

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and NEED HELP! So I recently bought a 330i 2006 used. It is still under warranty and I took it in the shop because there is a leak whenever I get it washed right were the passengers feet would be, They said to me, "that whoever replaced the windshield before did not put in a blocker to stop water from going in," However I never have gotten it replaced, but maybe the previous owner did??? not sure, Anyway I was wondering if there obligated to cover it and replace it for me or do I have to really fork out the 400$ to have it replaced? And if I don't will it ever damage anything or will I just have a stupid leak in my car? Thanks everyone!!! The thing is I called where the previous owner bought the car in San Fran, and they said they never replaced a windshield, Doesn't BMW have to replace windshields because of the sensors by where your mirror is?

one does not have to take the car in to a BMW dealership to have the windshield replaced, an aftermarket shop can order the glass (OEM or non-OEM) and install it.

If your car is under warranty, go back to the dealership where you bought the car and have them replace/fix it UNDER WARRANTY.

sounds like the OP bought the car second hand from a private party, not the dealership. So that means it's a non-cpo car? I can see the dealer being resistant to cover a defect/problem that was caused by a third party installation of a replacement part.

The OP may need to somehow prove that the windshield is the original factory piece, but he may be hosed on this one.

If that's the case, then neither BMW nor the dealership bear the responsibility of replacing the windshield under warranty. Best would be for OP to contact the seller and ask him/her where the windshield was replaced as there should be a warranty for the worksmanship and material from the replacement shop.

uh.. I don't think bsamoul intended to confuse the OP, he was trying to find out whether or not the windshield is OEM

The dealership has no obligation if the windshield leaks unless the car is a CPO dealership sold car, otherwise you are on your own getting it fixed!
