No sound when locking/unlocking car
I noticed that my ‘15 428i doesn’t make any noise when it locks/unlocks. Besides the physical noise form the doors. There’s no beeping, just the lights flash. Is this normal? Seems like every car should have this feature? If it’s an added package is there any way to install something afterwords? Mainly because I like having that auditory confirmation that I locked the car. Since I often find myself spamming the lock button.

You need to enable the "lockout confirmation" function in the car settings.

Under Vehicle Settings -> Doors/Key there is the option to enable it. "Acoustic signal for lock/unlock"

The first thing I did when I took delivery, before I even got off the dealer lot, was to disable the horn beep when locking the car. I find it irritating. I do leave the radio on all the time, which gets turned off when I lock the car. If I still hear the radio I know it's not locked. I also coded my mirrors to fold when locking. That way I can look at them and know if the car's locked or not.

Like Billfitz mentioned code your side mirrors to fold/unfold so you at least have a visual indicator whether your doors are locked or not.

They have different uses so depends on what you're needing to do. Bimmercode allows you to code options and Bimmerlink allows you to check and clear error codes, monitor sensors, force open/close OEM exhaust valves and register a new battery.

Bimmercode is $40 in-app purchase required. They’re from the same excellent developer.
So you get two pretty indispensable, powerful and complementary tools for your Bimmer for $75. Well worth it, IMO. And get a WiFi adapter not Bluetooth…the speed difference is noticeable. |
