Rat problem... is this housing important enough to warrant its own service?

Hello I recently starting noticing small mice/rat tracks on my wheels and looked into my engine bay to see if anything was wrong. I came to find out that something had been clawing, scratching at this housing located near my passenger side front headlight. Could anyone tell me what this housing is and if its serious enough for me to request a service appointment to repair it?

Thanks

Sorry if they are blurry took it with iphone.

Subscribing, since I had a squirrel or mouse/mice eating my hood insulation a while back: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173082

I keep looking for any additional damage, but can't find any, thank God. The little bastards. I hope you're setting mouse traps. I can't, because I park outside.

Carefull with the rat/mice problem

In the winter, they like to stow away in the engine area to keep warm - and they chew through everything...

8 years ago, we used to live in NYC and kept a car at my inlaw's business - parked outside. One afternoon, we picked up the car, and all of the dashboard lights lit up. The rats chewed throught he wiring harness and caused a short. Luckily, the car was still driveable (only the power steering was somewhat affected). When I brought it to a mechanic - he was not suprised.. he told me that Rats chew through cars electrical wires all the time.

My biggest shock was when the dashboard lit up after a couple of blocks, I stopped the car and lifted the hood - the monster rat (big as a small kitten) jumped out of the engine at me. My wife was sitting in the passnger seat and did not see a thing (hood was up)

infamous brake dust on the wheels allowed me to see mouse feet crawling over them.

So know one know off hand what part this is? I may just cruise by and see if they can take a look at it.

Guy I work with had the same problem. We were parking in a lot between two buildings in NYC and he had electrical problems with his lexus. Took the dealer a while to finally figure out that rats had chewed threw a bunch of wiring harnesses. I don't park there anymore!

My mom was wondering why her air conditioning smelled in her SUV... turned out we were cooking a rat somewhere in the engine bay the whole time.

I have seen this before it sucks!

Put some rat poison under the car

Thank god I have a garage, although I am sure the field mice could get in there, but so far so good.
