My son “found” this piece in the rear floor of my M3. Most likely he pulled it off of something, but he’s 2.5, so good luck asking him where he saw it and getting a straight answer lol. I’ve looked in the back seat area and don’t see it, and I’ve tried googling the numbers on the part but haven’t seen anything. Pics attached.

Could be a cover for the LATCH system.

Have you checked BMW or BMW parts sites about the number stamped on it?

Yeah, searching the part number was the first thing I did. No hits. I’ve poked around with a flashlight and see nothing out of place.

Based on the texture, it looks like some kind of screw cover for the center console somewhere.

Could be a screw cover for the door panel, specifically the one behind the handle.

no dice, unfortunately. At this point I've gone through the car with a flashlight, been upside down in the footwells looking for missing pieces, and put the seats down and moved them around looking for where this goes and I can't find anything out of place. I've just tossed it in my center console and will ask next time I'm at the dealer if they know what it is, because I can't find where it should go.

check your other cars.

Could be number 7 but a spare which somehow was left in the car following the build. Had happened with other parts in the past.
