How long do the front OEM brake pads last?

I know the answer is "it depends" on the driving style / conditions, but I was wondering how much would the OEM pads last under "normal" / "average" driving conditions. Another way to put it is what would be the max and min life expectancy in km (or miles) based on the less / most agressive driving style.

on my 335i, the rears had to be changed before the fronts. I know its a different car but i found it odd that the rears had to be changed at about 30k and the fronts were still good

Rears being changed first is surprising... By 30k you mean 30,000 miles (not km) right?

Depends...

Mine lasted almost 9k miles. I melted mine after 20-30 minutes at Sebring (DE not a race.)

BMW did not cover it at all and wanted more than $2700 for 4 rotors/pads/labor. I had it done at my local exotic mechanic for $1k less.
He was amazed how small the pads are, and there is no venting for the front rotors. It is a POS design for a "///M" car.

This is going to be my last BMW, after 5...

I would estimate 20-30K in miles without any track use.

My previous E46 M3 the front pads did last for 60.000km ( 1st change from 0-60k km).................... I drove the car till 100.000 km, no problem what so ever ( So all in all just 1 replacement)

Indeed it depends all on driving style.........................and I admit; I`m just not a big brake guy................

Idrive will give you the predicted front brake pad replacement miles based on your driving style.
