What happened to this tire? - inside shoulder depressed
Made full use of the 'run flat' this morning (at the worst possible time).
I initially thought it was bc my recent road course activities but this was on the INSIDE shoulder has a depression in a specific area around the circumference and needless to say, thats where it vented to the atmosphere... I have not checked the other front tire.. but Im perplexed (not to mention poorer) what caused it to wear in this manner.

It appears to be a manufacturing defect. I can't think of anything that would leave such a nice and smooth kink in only one spot. If the kink was throughout the whole tire you could blame it on rubbing.

could possibly be a 2nd belt issue (typically this is the area where the second belt (outer) ends. that could be a manufacturer's issue.
do any higher speed runs and/or keep inflation a bit low? typically if you do, tires may prematurely fail at the corner of the shoulder, where the thickness of the tire is greatest - this area cannot dissipate heat well, and could be a design issue when running in your conditions ( texas) |

I guess its possible that the tires were on the low side during my road course runs and that area was subjected to some force.. but I still would think it would be further around than just so localized. But the real big turn that was like a 180degree right hander at 80-100+ should have loaded the outside of that tire.
