Forgive me, lots of acronyms and terms I'm not familiar with yet here.

I picked this car up a few days ago and it has the larger of the 2 displays, navigation, carplay and Sirius XM.

Couple questions.

1. I find myself frequently fumbling around with the knob getting lost in menus when just trying to do simple stuff such as read a text message then go back to the navigation / what's playing screen. Is there a quick way to just back out to the navigation split screen?

2. I'm a little confused on wireless charging. I don't think my car has it. Is there a retrofit that will support Iphone 13 pro max sized phones?

3. Map updates. Are these over the air?

I don’t blame you, I tried to use an id6 last week and what a clusterfuck the organization is on that thing compared to id4.

Couple of ideas, make a shortcut for your favorite sources, I have dvd on 1, Sirius presets on 3, external media source selection on 4,

Also you have a source selection on the steering wheel, and you have keys on idrive for nav, media, radio etc to move sources quickly too.

Presets....another area I'm struggling!

So if you wanted to make Sirius preset 3 would you highlight Sirius in the media portion then hold 3? These presets are NOTHING like what I'm used to!

I swear I've highlighted "HOME" in the nav, held preset 1 several times. I touch the 1 button after saving and it shows "HOME" but the next day when I get in the car there's nothing set there.

Surely I'm doing something wrong! I'll keep trying.

Sometimes you have to choose the item BEFORE what you want to get to. Remember pressing the preset is t like radio presets, it’s selecting a menu item even if you aren’t on that menu… if that helps. It jumps to whatever the preset selects/clicks.


You can’t preset tpmsif you are on the screen of it… but you can preset on the screen before it so the button clicks the tpms and takes you straight there, to it being displayed, if that makes sense?

Yep. I'll keep messing with it. Initially I thought they were radio preset buttons!

Does the '18 328d not come with a 8.8" touchscreen? I converted my '16 340 to the f15 10.25 touchscreen, it's just plain great to navigate. I barely use the idrive knob at this point.
