MCS Coilover install- g80 comp

RaceWerkz Engineering in Burbank CA just installed a prototype MCS 2-way Non-remote suspension on my 21 G80 Comp.

We went with Swift Spring, Vorshlag Camber plates, and full Coilover rear shock.

Initial thoughts-
MCS dampers are a work of art. They are hand-built in the USA and the team at MCS has extensive knowledge of vehicle dynamics and driver expectations. Their attention to detail and customer support is the best in the industry. The camber plates are of great quality and quiet, and the Springs are the best in the game.

Racewerkz worked very close with MCS as this was their first prototype set of Coilovers for the G80 and the fitment was perfect and all sensors fit with no issues.

The ride quality for everyday driving is similar to the sport suspension setting however we found the sport setting was still too soft on Track. The coilovers solved all of those issues and the car feels so much better on track.

I would recommend MCS to anyone who plans on tracking their car regularly and the team at RaceWerkz was super helpful with spring election, Installation, Alignment, and dialing in the rebound and compression.

If you don’t mind me asking how much was your setup? Does the car feel like it handles on rails? I can care less about comfort if that means the car can handle turns with ease.

What’s the drop (lowering) range?

Very nice, been waiting for a proper MCS coilover for our cars. What spring rates are you running? What were the rebound/compression settings you ended up with?

We went with 13k Front and 11k Rear spring rates. I really had no idea what to run and let Casey @ Racewerkz figure all that out for me.

The car feels great.. No idea on rebound and compression. I will be at the track this Saturday and I will get that info from the Racewerkz team.

No idea on lowest drop.. I wanted a functional height for tracking but we are going to re-align and change up the height of the car once my 19in forgeline wheels are delivered.

I did the coilovers and swapped to CUP 2's on the same day and the car feels SO much better in the turns. The stock tires do not deal with the g80 torque very well and the car was a drift machine on track prior to the changes.

We got MCS on the race cars and they are one of the best setup's ive driven on track. Would definitely go MCS if at some point I want to replace the stock setup.

Track day was great! We determined the car is definitely undersprung so we are going to swap out to a heavier spring soon. We are thinking 14k front and 12k rear (13/11 currently)

Nice, been waiting for this thread and looking forward to seeing more MCS kits on the road. Still error free after coding?

Hey Tom! The headlight level error has persisted. Next time it's at Racewerkz we will hook it up to the computer and try to troubleshoot!

We also discovered a spacing issue with the Adjuster on the front damper that has been resolved with a spacer by Vorshlag so we will install that along with stiffer springs in the near future.

Can you elaborate on the headlight issue? Is this cause the car is getting to low? I currently have AST going to V3s in couple of weeks will I have this issue as well? What is the fix?

Yes they are planning on XDrive applications also.

My first track day with them was great but we do need to make some updates to spring rates, height, and Damper adjustments. We are waiting for my new wheels to arrive and we will make all necessary updates to the suspension then. Right now the wheels are about 4 weeks out so I should have more updates in June/ July.

Are you still using 1.4k and 1.2k springs? Why did you go to 3-way remote? Very interested in MCS, especially like it uses standard springs and easy to change rates. I will probably call them.

Nice! The Xdrive cars require remotes right? Who did your install?

I had an very early version of the 2 way Non-remote and the spacing on the top hat caused the adjuster to contact the car body which broke both adjusters. When I was having the dampers rebuilt we decided to upgrade to the 3 way remotes haha

Racewerkz in Burbank is amazing with MCS setup and their main vendor in Ca. Call Casey and he will take care of you. Mention my name and He should hook you up- Chris J. Racewerkz- (657) 256-4432

I honestly went with the 3 ways because I felt like I was making the investment in good suspension so running the top end was the right call. It’s 100% overkill for me (still intermediate on most tracks lol) and 2 ways would be just fine.

I am happy to ask Racewerkz my spring set up and will update this post when I hear back.
