G80 KW H.A.S. how low do I go?

Hello everyone,

Should be receiving my KW H.A.S. kit soon. However, I'm not sure how many threads to leave in the front. Ive heard if I touch the rear, to only lower it slightly.

Can those with the kit installed show some pictures and let me know how low they went?

Im also tempted to just lower the front past the reccomended specs so that there are no more threads left.

Please tap in!

The first version KW HAS kit is typically full max rear and full low front. That seems to be what most people do here.

That said, some of us thought the rear looked tucked at max height in the rear. I and a few others mention this to KW and they are now offering a taller rear spring soon. If you have a version 1 kit, you will get the taller spring for free. Keep in mind, you have to pay for them until they get your old ones back.

Another member here found that KW offers a 15MM coil spring spacer. He as well as I and a couple others went that route. That gives us the ability to raise the rear up higher than what KW originally gave us.

This is mine with the rear coil spacer. My front is 15 full turns up from the bottom. My rears are probably 1/2 to 2/3rds up the perch with the 15mm kw coil spacer. If you dont have the spacer you will probably want full max on the rear and full low or a couple turns up from the bottom up front. The fronts you can adjust easily at home. The rears are a bitch to adjust. Its doable, but its not exactly ease. If you dont have the coil spacer and you dont mind the almost tucked rear look, then just go max height on the rear and max low up front. If the front looks too low, you can raise it up yourself. With the rear, its low or SUPER low only. So go max height in rear with no spacer. At least thats what I would do.

Thank you for your detailed write-up. When you mention max low (for the front) do you mean max recommended low or low so that there are little to no threads remaining. Wondering if there are any downsides to the latter option.

Do you get an M3 or M4? That is crucial since the two are not the same for the KW HAS drop on the rear.

I meant bottom of the perch. All the way down. I have no clue what KW recommends on the front or if max low is in that range.

Same suspension for xdrive and rwd, so wouldn't make a difference.
Only difference is m3 to m4, where the rear sheet metal causes the m3 to be tucked on max high, whereas the m4 sits perfect at rear max height.

Front all the way down, rear matching the front drop. Should be around 1".

Appreciate it!

I have a very steep driveway and was planning to do a front lip. I wanted a conservative drop because the gaps on the g82 are an eyesore

I went as low as I could go in the rear without tucking or rubbing with -2.5 rear camber, then corner balanced the front based on weight distribution rather than appearance. There is still some thread to go lower on front and back, but I didn't want to be slammed.

Ended up with this, which is perfectly balanced:

Here it is at speed going 65 on a right hand sweeper with throttle maintenance:

That's how mine sits now. No issues so far with bumps or ramps.
