MPPSK Activation Code

Hi all,

I picked up my F31 340i (AUC) last week and it came with the MPPSK already installed which was a great bonus.

As part of the MPPSK you get a red envelope with the activation code and the certificate of installation.

When I bought my car I didn’t get any of that additional documentation. I’ve contacted my local BMW dealer to see if they have a way to get that activation code (or if it is stored centrally on some internal system for them) as I think it would be good to have the code should the MPPSK software/remap ever get erased accidently and BMW have to reinstall it.

The dealer I spoke to said that to his knowledge they don’t have any kind of centralised database that would hold this information and that I should contact the BMW dealer I bought from and ask them to see if they have it of if they can contact the previous owner to see if they have such documentation.

Just wondering if anyone has been through this before and what experience you had.

Cheers!

I had my MPPSK coding erased when the dealer did an update and the tell tail sign was the sport display showing the lower values , they said the database was not updated when the system was installed (by them) so they took the car back into the workshop and added the necessary parameters , in 10 mins.

No envelope or code when i bought the install , just a receipt.

Just make sure the dealer database has been updated to include the MPPSK incase the vehicle is updated during any service work.

Nice one thanks for that mate. I contacted the BMW dealer where I bought the car from and they will attempt to contact the previous owner to see. Hopefully it will all be straightforward.....

When my MPPSK was installed back in Sept 2018 they installed the hardware but forgot to do the activation which they rectified afterwards. Was never given the completed Workshop Certificate though.

The attached MPPSK Installation Guide shows what they do regards 'activation' and shows what the certificate looks like (last page).

Quick update on this. I spoke to the dealer where I purchased the car from and they managed to speak to the previous owner who claimed the exhaust was already installed on the car when he bought it from Rybrook, Warwick (possible ex-demo).

I spoke to Rybrook, Warwick and they knew of the car and had a record of the service records etc but nothing to say that the MPPSK exhaust was installed. It’s all a bit odd to be honest.

The software I don’t believe has been installed since I checked the power gauges and they are reading the stock numbers or it’s possible it may have been installed and removed but the software on the car hasn’t been updated as when I spoke to BMW Customer Services they mentioned the car needed a software update as it was still showing as 2018 software.

I’ve booked it in with my local BMW dealer who will take a look at it but obviously have to pay for this since I didn’t buy the car from them but a different BMW dealer.

It still sounds amazing but obviously the software isn’t updated. God knows if they will be able to do anything since I’m guessing the activation code is nowhere to be seen as the MPPSK was I’m guessing installed a few years ago…

Could it be that the car only has the exhaust and not the software installed?
Is there the sticker on the engine cover?

Yeah it has the badge on the engine cover but no sticker on the underside of the bonnet detailing any other info

Yeah I do think it's just the exhaust without the software update. Not sure if they will be able to install the software since I don't have the activation code though.

When your car was running stock software with the MPPSK did it still burble etc when it was in sport mode - basically behave like it should minus the power increase?

It did , slightly, but no where near as much as it does with the full MPPSK install.

Can you post a pic of your power display on your idrive mate? This is mine:

Ok so now I've figured out how to use this idrive system (coming from CCC) it appears I was getting fixated on the wrong numbers (DOH!). As mine match yours Kendo67 then all is good with the world! Crisis averted and saves a trip to the dealership

It is weird that there is literally no record of the exhaust being installed. When I spoke to dealers today they said that the map would never be flashed over if they updated the car unless I went back to a stock system but obviously that isn't true since it's happened to users on here before.

Hopefully the map will be here to stay because if it ever got erased (via an update or anything) I have no way of getting the activation code and BMW have no record of it being installed either.
