Measure how much higher you want to go, remove springs, adjust then replace. I don't think anyone has been able to adjust while on the car with that tool. Too much tension and access is tight.

I have tried and was able to adjust them just fine. Was not able to turn on the first attempt when I was lazy just lifting the car and did from below. But on the second run, I just removed the wheel and adjusted from the side. Once the ring started to turn, it was quite painless after that.

Just make sure you blow off all the dust to make the adjuster turning easier. The provided adjusting tool is a must.

I understand that it’s a little hard to do with on the car but do I close the gap or go further away from the bottom perch I know on the front the lower you turn the perch the lower the car goes but on the back it’s if you turn it down to close the Perch does the car sit higher

You want to lengthen the spring so put more threads in-between the two plates. "Open the gap".
