EDC connector removal

Attempting to install lowering springs on G80. Struggling with removing EDC connector (cable) from top of strut. Feel as though if I use any added force that i might break. Should I pry from bottom? Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was stressing about this too but a pull straight up with a little grunt ended up doing it.
