G83 convertible and AST + spacers

Got my ast springs and spacers installed today. Knew because of the extra weight of the convertible the drop would be a bit more than a coupe, but it seems too low on the back. I am hearing a sound when going over bumps. it's probably rubbing on the inside of the wheel well.

Any other G83s have ast with 12mm spacers on?

Maybe i need to go with the HAS so i can adjust accordingly?

Could have sworn i saw other g83s on here lowered with spacers.

I have been waiting to pull the trigger on dropping my G83. There hasn’t been too many options specifically built for the G83. I was hoping the MP would release theirs soon but who knows how long that is going to be. I emailed KW directly 2 months ago and they didn’t have one. However their site now list their HAS kit is compatible. H&R has a spring set that works. From what I have learned from the forums here, H&R can be a bit bouncy. I have not read about AST springs much. I am probably going to pull the trigger on the KW HAS soon. I am going with the HAS as I am particular about my ride height and want the adjustability. I am not sure what your goal is. However, my 2 cents is I would order HAS kit.

emailed my installer. he said something could be figured out. His first suggestion was to put the stock cushions on.

Do people normally put the stock cushions on a spring install?

I have an email out to AST asking.

I asked before purchasing about the M4 springs on a G83 and they said it would be fine just a slight bit more drop, "4mm" was the quote.

Will follow up once I get more info.

I would say that’s a bit more that 4 mm. Hopefully AST has a solution.

yeah. i'm like 95% sure it's not the isolator issue the others had. The installer has done several ast installs and checked with him before. This gap between the tire and the inside of the wheel well is like 1/4-1/2" there is very little room. any slight bump and it will rub.

Yes put the stock cushions back on. That's the reason for your two problems garantie.

Stock cushions were there, so that's not the issue.

Emailed AST and they are sending me new rears that are 20mm higher.

Should be perfect with that. Will update once received and installed.

reporting back here. I emailed AST and they quickly sent me two new rears that were 20mm taller. it's perfect now, no rubbing.

ASTLS-22-083RR was the new part number for the rears AST sent me

ASTLS-21-182RR was the original part number

So if I order these parts, is it plug and play or something else needs to be done? How's the ride quality and any other issues? I feel like g83 is not being prioritized for many mods and I don't want to deal with noises and issues.. any tips would be appreciated. Btw what's the spacer setup? I like to keep things as stock as possible but I gotta say g83 needs to be dropped it has a horrendous gap. Thanks

Sitting pretty! The G83 looks so good, especially with a drop and spacers.

Everything is good after getting the right rear springs.

I have 15mm future classic spacers i. the front and 12mm future classic spacers in the back.

Ride quality is good, love it. no regrets.

It looks so good now as i walk up to it, just that little bit of drop made a big difference.
