X3 Experience So Far

Well I will say I have been hanging around this forum since I for my X3 in August. Story is my 2022 X3 rolled off the delivery truck the Friday before I took delivery on 8/11/21 and on 8/26/21 some kid slammed into my front in while weaving in an out of traffic. I couldn’t have chosen a worse body shop, it sat for weeks before anyone looked at it, they ordered the wrong parts for it and didn’t tell me it would be another month delay because they ordered the wrong front end. However, they are a BMW certified collision center and its been there since August of 2021. Finally they managed to get all the parts and reassembled it a little over a week ago. I was able to see “All Good” on the MyBMW app but then after it sat for another week we were told it had to go to the BMW dealership for an inspection. Got a phone call yesterday that said everything is all good, they were trying to get their drivers to pick it up from BMW and bring it back to the collision center and they would call me late yesterday afternoon. That call never happened, even tho I could see the X3 was back at the collision center. The MyBMW app now says “Right low beam malfunction” and “Daytime/Parking lamp malfunction” after its inspection. I really hope this is something really simple like a loose connection after a bump, but I really have lost faith in this collision center and BMW after it went through an “Inspection” and now the X3 has those errors. That and they drove it with low tire pressure and no one thought to put air in the tires.

Damn, that came out looking good as new. Hope that it drives as such and you get the little nagging issues sorted out.

If it applies to you (you bought it, not leased it), and it was the other driver's fault, see their insurance about DIMINISHED VALUE CLAIM. I have a feeling that will show on the Carfax and any inspection at resale time.

Not all body shops use CARFAX. Our friends attitude was that we redo the car like new.

The second pic above is the day we signed the paper work, here are the after pictures of the car now...that body shop does amazing work considering they also do Lambos, Bentleys and Rolls. I was able to see it last week before it went for inspection, there is not a panel gap on it as you can see it looks like the day I bought it. What they lack in customer service they excel at body work. You can actually see the top of the Rolls Royce in the second picture, it was dropped off the delivery truck during delivery customer never even got to drive it.

It's an on going battle between insurance companies, honestly I dont care about resale value because I love the car and unfortunately it had negative equity rolled into it. This was a replacement car since my husband dropped a book case on my new Lexus (I have the worst luck with cars).

Well then that would make total sense as to why it looked good as new!

The after pics do look great though.

Similar story to me- had the car a month and some kid entered the highway too fast. T-boned a minivan and then slide into me in the center lane. Similar damage too. This happened on 1/5- still waiting for car to be fixed. Though the BMW shop I am using has been great with communication. They are ready to put my car back together but have items on back order that are needed before they can install the bumper. It's been a bummer to be out of the car longer than I owned it.I've seen weird things in the app as well- didn't update for a few weeks at first.
Hope you get your car back soon.

If any of you have lease or finance and the car is sitting in the shop, waiting to be repaired, who pays for the repayments? Does the other party's insurance cover it or would you have to make a separate claim in a civil court for it?

You do regardless of who is at fault, unless the at fault party injured you and you can't make the payments. The at fault party would be responsible for your repairs and rental/transportation, but you are responsible for your payments.

My accident twin! Seriously tho, BMW was seriously backordered for about 4 months. Their turn around time is a lot shorter now. My body shop told me some parts on my X3 aren't suppose to be there like the air curtain for the brakes, but my body shop insisted that since BMW built it like that it should be put back on. The air curtain, black inserts, and lower grill was what held mine up. My fenders originally weren't going to be replaced but when they took it apart then noticed a hairline crack where the hood sits so that delayed it a bit too.

I wanted a Island and a Cape plate to begin with but Massachusetts has some weird law about registering a car that was just purchased after just moving to the state if you just move back. Needless to say I just went with a Mass Plate and then got the one I wanted. They put it on and then put BMW of Sudbury back on, I hate when they do that, I didn't pay you to advertise so its coming off!

Thanks! They did an amazing job and I was really impressed the lines are perfect and believe me I checked. I'm hoping to get it back tomorrow

Got my X3 back today, there was a problem with the passenger LED indicator module. Some how the part was over nighted to the dealership and installed yesterday. Its like getting a new car all over again I only had it 15 days.
