Automatic Windshield Wipers Re-Sets When Starting??

Complicated title, but basically I want to leave it in automatic mode, so if it rains it just works and I don't have to dick around with things. But everytime I start the car it goes back to manual mode, even if I switch over and stop the car, take the key out, then restart it... why can't it remember to stay in automatic mode?

How can I set this as it's driving me nuts...?

didn't know a mo-ped had wipers. must be a new model.

Actually, I don't think it can be done with our cars. How hard is it to push a button when you see a rain drop.

There is no way to leave it on Auto all the time, at least that i know of.

i think the reason it's reverts back to manual is so that it doesn't go crazy on you if you are going to thru a car wash or someone splashed a bucket of water on the windshield. But yeah, how hard is it to push that button?

It's only safe when the car is made by Toyota.

As I'm told, this is to prevent burning up the wiper motor if, on a freezing morning, the wipers were stuck to the windscreen.
