Starting over. New CSLs, which tires?
I have VM CSLs on my car now and while they look great, they're ALL bent badly from daily use over the past year. We don't have supremely smooth roads around here, but we certainly don't have all that poor of roads either and I'm very disappointed by how fragile these have been.
Anyway, I just bought a new set of Miros, so we'll see how they stand up. I'm also going to ditch my 265 Generals for their complete and total lack of lip protection on both the inside and out of the rim. What do you guys like that are somewhat comparable to the generals in price, but better protection, etc. I've seen the Vredesteins thrown around, but I've never heard of that brand before. Other suggestions?

I will say that I had the same problem as you. Lost 6 M6 reps with generals
Ive decided that the generals have awful protection, not just on the lip side, as all my lips were fine. It was the inside edge of the wheel that cracked because the tires were so cheap/weak with no protection While you may have never heard of vredestein, it's been around for a VERY long time. Despite the price being similar to generals, they are not considered to be in the same grouping of discount decent summer tires. They are more comparable to Michelin PS2 and Goodyear Eagle Asym. The price is low because of their relative small marketshare in the US, where they are a staple of the European auto tire selection process. I got a set, used to be on generals, and I cant explain to you how amazing it is in comparison. Honestly, just give them a shot, I guarantee you wont be unhappy

Hey man thanks for the response, I have actually decided to give them and shot and see how I like them. Same thing here, the inside edge of my wheels it what is bent to hell and back.

(not a solicitation...just where I found mine the cheapest) they came pretty quick too...no complaints here. They even came in boxes (surprised me, since I'm used to getting them from dtd or tr just wrapped up) you should also know, they are a bit big for their stated size. The 235/265 combo F/R, fits more like 245/275...not quite I guess 245/275, but somewhere in the middle. Very meaty tires (they fit without rubbing..so no worry of that)

Wait, what? When you mean lack of protection from your UHPs, what do you mean? I'm running 19" v710s on UHPs. Should I be worried? Are you referring to curb rash?

Not referring to curb rash necessarily...more the inner side of the wheel, there is little to no protection on the sidewalls of the tires as they are very thin....most dents seem to be happening on the inner edge where its not visible

I would suggest the Bridgestone RE-01R's from my personal experience. Either than or some Michelin Pilot Sport Cups if you're not too stretched for cash.
For just a regular nothing special tire, go with Pirelli's or a Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. Just my 2cents |

Yep, I got my VM's from you guys. I like the wheels, they look significantly better and have a lot more concavity in the rear than the Miros, but the finish has not held up that great and obviously I've bent the hell out of them. Decided to give the Miros a shot even though I don't like the looks as much because they are supposed to be a better constructed wheel. We'll see. Pretty sure I'll give the vredesteins a shot.

My miro's have held up well. I have one rock chip but other than that really good. Were the other ones just peeling?

I'm very surprised to hear about the "severe bending" as this is not very typical of the warranty requests. Please e-mail us pictures for evaluation.
