Side steps/skirts
So I equipped my car with automatic running boards (like the Range Rover) but after adding a few carbon fiber parts they seemed not right, I didn't like the way they weren't the same length as the car as you can see from the following pic.
So I wanted to do something special, I had an idea of making them into carbon fiber side skirts to match the front lip and rear winglets. A few months later and they were finished. I think it really completes the look of the car. |

Woah Mr. Pringle! Can you hit me up with the details of the side steps? How much did it cost you for the parts and installation?
I had looked into it last year but couldn't find any trustworthy source for the G05. I'd love self-deployable side steps... |

Looks fantastic. I previously inquired about the deployable steps but he lives abroad and had a shop install them. I could not find the brand here in US. Only company I've found is in Taiwan via ebay. I've called my local offroad stores but none of the usual suspects produce deployable steps for G05. My kids pointed to a car last night with side steps and said "I want those!"

Yo man! They're made by a Korean company called "Smart Gear", hope you'll be able to find someone who stocks or can fit them.

Do you know if they needed to drill holes on the structure of the vehicle? Does it come with a button in the car to control its deployment (to fix/lock it in place, etc.)? Would you be able to share some photos of the underbody of the car how/where it connects? Cheers man. Also saw your brief video of it on your ig channel. I had asked about this here a year ago but didn't get nearly as much replies. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1794652 I see things like these on Aliexpress now for just over $500 a pop. Mainly concerned about its rigidity and if it'll drill holes/cause BMW factory warranty concerns. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000506688670.html |

There's a button to turn the steps off completely which is fitted under the glove box, out of sight. Also if you close the door and put your foot on the running boards they'll stay open (for washing ect) until you open and close the door again. As far as mounting holes, they're fitted to mounting points that are already there, I believe they're the jacking points. Those AliExpress ones seem legit, I mean there's a company selling suspiciously looking similar ones for double that price! https://www.pegasus4x4.com/bmw/bmw-x...-steps-bmw-x5/ |

That pegasus link is exactly what I saw and quoted a year ago haha. So because it uses the jack holes, does this mean the car can no longer be jacked up (for a wheel change, check etc.) until the side steps are removed? I'm curious how high is the surface of the step from the ground when deployed (with your suspension in standard height). And the ground clearance with the steps closed? Just whenever you get a chance, not urgent Thanks heaps. Just whenever you get the chance. I'll still need to get comfortable with a garage who can help me fit it if I order one from Aliexpress. |

Can you DM me where you purchased them. I tried looking for Smart Gear Steps, or Retractable Steps, and not finding anything from them. |

I got asked for mounting points, so here are some pictures. They're mounted to the Jack points. I've had the car jacked several times right on the arms for the steps without any problems.
