Has anybody with a 335 driven the new TL SH AWD 3.7?
I drove one yesterday and I think I may be going crazy because it felt really quick. The tach would zing right to redline, nice quick shifts, etc.
It's been a while since I've been in a 335, so just to make sure I'm not losing it I'm wondering if anybody with a 335 (tuned or not) has driven the new TL. |

Without getting into another tedious debate about the controversial front end of the TL, my main beefs with that car are the size, steering, and AWD
The new Acuras went to an electronic power steering system. The numbness of that system is really disturbing. I find it particularly disconcerting at low speeds, where the disconnection between the steering inputs and what actually happens with the car make it feel like you are playing a video game. My second concern is the size. Its far too big. The car is actually larger than a 5 series. In fact, I think the exterior dimensions exceed that of many crossover SUVs. Now, if you don't live in an urban area with narrow streets, that might not matter to you. But, out here in LA, such a large car feels impractical to me. And, my final concern is the AWD. We barely have rain in Los Angeles, let alone snow or ice. I have zero need for an AWD system. So, for me, having to deal with the complexity and weight of AWD just to have a car that handles decently makes no sense. I see you drive an RDX - so YMMV with regard to this particular issue. Oh, and a parting shot at the front-end, again avoiding the styling issues, that huge chrome front end is an invitation for road debris damage. By the end of a few years, that cheese grater grill is going to look like hell. So, whether or not you like the styling, it is not very practical. My personal opinion is, if you are no interested in the expense and upkeep of a Bimmer, the G35 is the more sensible alterantive to the Acura TL.

I agree on all of the above points.
I was just shocked at how quick it was. Now either I'm losing my mind, or I need to go take a 335 for a drive. With a tune |

I'd rather kick myself in the groin than drive that soul-less POS.

I saw a ugly brown one at the SF car show and they stickered for 42K. For a TL!!! I would take a TSX, and buy a CBR.
If I ever meet the designer im gonna kick him in the dick. |

Why would you guys be so angry about a car that exists that makes your car look that much better? That's like complaining about people at your company who do their job poorly...We should be so thankful,,,it only makes you look that much more capable.

AWD = ghey. I don't care about the extra tenths it might provide on a racetrack. It's boring.

Its about time the TL came with AWD. Especially for those in the Northeast. Other than the controversial appearance, I would be interested to see how sales go for Acura with the TL.

I havent driven the SH AWD but from what I hear its really unreal in the handling department, I will have to check it out.
As for the styling, I actually really like the rear of the new TL, I wish the front wasnt so AWFUL it wouldnt be a bad looking car. The engine is fantastic. Now the interior is another story all together, the last TL was nice, it was fairly clean inside. Honda/Acura used to be all about great ergonomics but the inside of the new TL is a mess. I have never seen so many damn buttons!

I wonder how much it will cost for this car. The MSRP for a V6 Accord coupe with navi now is around $33k...which I think is a bit too high. I would like to think that the MSRP for this car, fully loaded, will be in the very high 30 or low 40.

Acura TL = Total Loss
Acura has gone off the rails with their recent FMC/MMCs:
09 RL MMC: With the intro of the FMC TL, the flagship no longer has any reason to exist. 50K for an Accord? 09 TL FMC: Failing to build on the promise of the 3G TL as a nice step up for Honda owners seeking a bit of sport mixed with Japanese reliability at a reasonable price point, Acura decided to compete against Lexus. Words cannot describe how disjointed this car looks on the road, although in truth I've only seen one. SH-AWD does provide torque vectoring, however it is very heavy and unlike BMWs new AWD system, only provides a benefit when applying the throttle. This bloated pig has total failure written all over it. 09 TSX FMC: The first gen TSX matched with the 6MT and the tech package equaled a terrific stealth daily driver with a touch of lux features if not actual lux feel. I don't what the team of 50 odd people involved in the decision-making process were thinking, but the result is another total loss. Let's not forget the DOA RDX and the elimination of the Integra/RSX. If Acura has exit strategy, the time is now.
