Oil Cooler - Dont have one
Hi Guys..
First off.. I did use the search button but somehow couldnt find the the stuff i read about oil cooler earlier Here is the thing.. I have 07 335i and as you can guess I dont have an oil cooler. Has anyone got an oil cooler fitted thru the dealer ? And how much pain should one expect to get an oil cooler from the dealer (if at all) for free

You will not be able to get this done for free. Its very expensive to buy and have installed. Somewhere in the 2000-2500 range. You have to have a sports package and high performace tires to get the Oil Cooler. They will not retrofit you. Why would they? If they are willing to do for you now they would have just put it in from the beginning right?

there have been a ton of responses to this before. if you search, you will find. I will tell you that I bought a CPO 07 335 with sport package and have not been successful with getting an oil cooler. If it was not purchased new, save your breath with BMW of NA. They won't cover it. If you bought it new, they will cover it, but you have to call BMW of NA and be persistant but pleasant. Do not mention this forum. Do not tell them, "i heard on the internet". Tell them that you are very concerned about your engine and its longevity with it running so hot. If they say no, ask them to give you their reasoning. Some people have had to drive hard enough until their cars go to shut down or limp home mode. When this happens, it is recorded on the computer, and that is usually enough for the dealership to get BMW of NA to authorize the oil cooler.

I was the 1st person to get the free oil cooler retro-fit. You can search on my name in the archives you'll see it. When I posted about my experience, it seemed to open the floodgates to a ton of people who just wanted it for no good reason.
allentct has it right. Unless you are tracking your car or can prove you've experienced issues, you won't need it. |
