I got a question for you guys. Where do you get that suction camera mount for the car?

I would NEVER operate a car with a suction type camera mount unless it was short tethered to something. In an accident that camera may become a projectile capable of causing serious injury.

My recommendation is for one of the headrest mounts.

Cruise Cam

Yes, cruise cam works great. I was going to build such a setup myself, but at that price, I didn't see the point.

Cruise cam is what I use too. Only problem is that when I have it mounted to an unoccupied passenger's seat, there's too much vibration of the seat which gets transmitted to the camera enough that even the camera's digital image stabilizer can't overcome.

The group I run with, PDA, wont allow a suction mount anymore...so I use Cruise Cam mount. I mount the camera on the drivers' side, as that is safer...and more stable for the camera. Link in my signature shows it's results.

You can also bungy the passenger seat head rest to a rear seat belt to keep the seat stable.

Here's what you need. GoPro wearable digital camera http://www.goprocamera.com/ 200$ from pepboys. I love it, and with the suction cup... you can damn near hang from it, No regrets in my purchase it can shoot video for up to two hours with a 2 gig memory card and fresh triple A batteries.
Here's a pic I took at night cruising. Does video and photos, and can even shoot upside down.

I went to LRP with PDA/NASA on april 4th and brought my cruise cam, they said it wasn't allowed anymore. They told me that they had a bad crash rating and are banning from now on. I guess this might be false?

I didn't know about this. BMW CCA allows them.

On another note, I am pretty sure devices that use suction cups will not pass tech.

Yep. The concern would be that they could become projectiles in a crash and hurt the occupants. I guess, as Radiation Joe has said earlier, you could try to go around the issue by bolting it down somewhere with a cable or something, but I'd check with the oraganizers ahead of time to see if they'd be OK with that.

FWIW I have this:

http://www.powrgrip.com/cgi-bin/powr...ukklehead.html

It's fantastic, but it's also big and heavy unfortunately. I've only taken it to a few track days and nobody's ever said anything, but I never asked either.

Only complaint is that it's big, so I won't put it on the front window, only on the rear deck and even then I get slightly concerned about visibility (I always think there's someone behind me. )

But it will hold a full-size camcorder. Cruise Cam does too I suppose, but it's *right* next to your head which sort of freaks me out. All the stuff you can buy specifically for in-car video that I've seen is just crappy-ass 640x480 webcam-quality video.

I use Cruise Cam as well and just put it on the longest setting, so I can video from the rear seats.
The Cruise cam wont mount to my Pole Positions so only option it to leave them in the rear instead
