Imitation wood looks cheap. I like the way real wood looks in certain cars. Maybe it wouldn't work so well in an e92 or sportier cars, but in my e90 I think it looks nice. My car is black/terra/walnut, by the way.

I do have friends who give me a hard time about it, though. So to each his own, I suppose.

I think the opposite, I think the aluminum looks really cheap and makes the car look like a cobalt compared to the wood which is real.

There are things though that I like better then the wood, the leather or carbon fiber dash on the M3, and also Piano black.

+1, carbon feels a little sporty for me. The only wood I'd pick is Piano Black at this point of my life.

yea i feel the same, wood makes the car look like its for old people and doesnt look as good as aluminum or CF interior, but then again, im young and consider a BMW more of a sport car than a luxury car

See i feel the same way, my mini was a custom build, I wanted another BMW but no wood, so kept looking found it online at a BMW dealer and ran to get it, I could had gotten a sweeter deal, If i would have taken one with wood, I am older 48 and a woman, and when i look at the wood it makes it look so cheap and old.

They could have painted the alum red and still would have bought the car, when I check out other BMW i cringe when i see wood/

Changing the trim out after you got the car is not a big deal and it's not that expensive either. If you found a great deal with wood trim, you should still jump on it.

I'm still mystified how some people like Asian food, whereas others seem to perfer Itallian.

The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with personal preferences and tastes. That idea must upset you terribly.

Unfortunately aluminum trims don't hold up nearly as goos as wood. They are too soft and get scratched/dented up really easily and look like hell after. Wood is a lot harder and you can buff out minor scratches. If you don't like to see too much wood grain you can order it in black.

BMW wood trim is real wood but not solid wood. It is laminated on top of injection moulded plastic and coated with urethane.

Every time I see a wood guitar I think it must be for old people. I personally prefer alumimum guitars, they are much sportier.

I like the dark grey poplar wood, but not a fan of the lighter brown wood that is available. Its not so much that I like wood,( which I do) but I don't like alum. And carbon fiber and piano black are not offered here in the US. I would have selected either of those 2 trims had they been available. Unfortunately, sedan owners don't even get the grey poplar option

+1 for gray poplar.

I usually do not like wood trim, but the gray poplar to me seems more mature than carbon fiber and more interesting than piano black. Combined with Saddle Brown leather and it looks even better. Of course I am biased. LOL!

This is why I picked wood...

I don't see how anyone can not consider this classy and luxurious, I personally love it and couldn't be happier.

Not a fan of the wood at all, I would replace it with something like this:
