Modded service?

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I used to post at bimmerfest.com but everyone seems rude and doesn't like to talk about any mods on BMWs because its already perfect car, and a waste to do so.

Anyways, I have a SSTT chip, and a BMS intake. I'll soon be needing my yearly maintence and I already know the chip needs to be taken out before getting service, but how about the intake? Will BMW throw a hissy fit if I leave it in. I know they can't make void my warranty because it hasn't been the cause of any malfunction, but I worried they might make a big deal out of it. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If they see the intake, which they will, and they notice something wrong they absolutely will do their best to try and blame it on that.

I know quite a bit out cars, would I be able to depend myself or should I just spend and extra 20 minutes to put the intake back in?

It really all depends how well you know your service advisor. They might not even let you defend yourself if they see it. There are different parts of your warranty, and the intake would be part of the engine warranty, and I wouldn't mess with that. If the dealer is mod friendly, you can keep it in, but all they have to say is it's voided, and that's that. I probably wouldn't chance it if I were you. 20 minutes to put it back on is not that long, and could save you a major hassle down the road if something were to happen.

I left my BMS in for the past several visits with no issue.

If you don't know that they'll be ok with it, don't chance it. I guess you could look at it as: how much $$ is that 20 minutes potentially worth to you?
