Do you allow other people to cut you off?

Say you are travelling on a 2 lane street on the left lane at the speed limit or slightly above it. You are at a speed you consider is safe. You can't go much faster since there is traffic as well. would you allow someone who is right behind you to go into the right lane and then cut you off in the left lane?

This happens so many times to me.. sometimes I just let it go - but today I accelerated to stop this pickup dump truck to cut me off.. he tried to come into the left lane even though I was there.... I had to honk so hard and then he started yelling fu#$%$% u man...

Is this just because people are jealous of our ride?

If there is nobody in front of you then you are the problem not the other driver. If there is however a car in front of you then all you can do is let them do it, because it is really pointless to get into pissing contests on the road. You never know how dumb the other driver is, why get into pointless conflicts and possibly end up in an accident.

And no... people care much less about what you drive then you think.

I wish that was true.. however, when I used to drive a honda civic or a 98 VW jetta, I used to not have anybody tailgate my ass.. In this car, it seems like people just love to ride my butt - but no, you don't think it is the car.

get your ass out of the left lane. its a passing lane. If someones passing you on the right you're both at fault. Him for passing in the right lane, you for being in that lane. Just take er easy and stay in the right lane unless passing. Its a safe driving habit and prevent u from being cussed by douchebags

+1 If you are only doing the limit you should be in the right lane. I think its common knowledge that the left lane is usually for people passing or driving over the speed limit. I hate when I'm doing like 70 in a 65 and there is some idiot doing 64 in the fast lane.

He said street, not freeway. The "slower traffic move right" thing doesn't apply on streets IMO.

Hmmm, reminds me of an incident here a few months ago (roles are reveresed from what the OP is saying)

The incident began when a Chevrolet Silverado tried to pass the Ford on a rural stretch of 16 Avenue near 264 Street about 2 a.m. PT.

Eventually, the Silverado was forced off the road by the Ford F-250 and ended up in a ditch, police told CBC News.

The driver of the Ford drove away, while the three young men in the Chevy got out of their truck to deal with the aftermath. At that point, police say, the driver of a silver Honda stopped to see whether they needed help.

Police allege that sometime later, the driver of the Ford pickup returned and drove straight at the three young men.

Two of the men, Sam Dooley and Luke Stevens, both 21, were able to get out of the way. O'Brien was unable to jump clear and was struck and killed by the truck.

The whole story is here (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-col...rage-icbc.html)

I hope none of you are as crazy as the guy in the Ford hahaha

So you're driving down a 35mph dense commerical street where there are left turns and left turn lanes every 300' you have to stay in the right lane? No.

Again, like I said - it is a STREET not a freeway. Left lane is for passing only in the freeway. Even the freeway left lane only for passing is not enforced in the US..

Even in Germany, you can pass on the right on city streets where the speed limit is 35mph.

It's lovely in the summer, in the winter it can go to hell!

P.S. you are right, we do have some bad drivers here. But I assume there are bad drivers everywhere.

Here in Texas, people will just merge into you anyway if you try to pull this kind of maneuver, I have seen it happen. I'm not saying that its right, just saying that it can happen, best to drive defensively instead of winding up with a wrecked car.

To the OP, I think you are the problem, not the other drive (well, the other driver might be the problem or just a jackazz)

left lane is supposed to be the PASSING lane like many have said here.. whether it is on street or on highway/freeway.

I hate it when people driving at or below speed limit in the left lane and there is NO CAR in front of him... that bloody driving is the one of the MAIN CAUSES OF why we have traffic jams everyday!.

If you want to drive at speed limit, great. Do it on the right lane. If it got too slow for you, pass in the left lane like what everyone is supposed to.

Just go with the flow of traffic!

I went to grad school in Minneapolis. Ofcourse, then I had a 85 Toyota tercel - it was a 2 door car, but the passenger side door was jammed and didn't open. I nick named it the one door limo!! I thought the drivers were alright there.
