Installed New Start/Stop button & Car won't start!!

Just as the title says, I installed a new start button, a custom one, pics will follow, and everything went smooth until the initial start up of the car. The engine turns but will not allow the car to start! NExt, service light came on and said FUEL PUMP FAILURE. In disbelief, I pull the key out, wait a moment and retry, this time TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. Is it possible that just me changing the start button could've set off this erratic behavior? If i try putting the old one back, will it affect anything? Can anyone help!? Any idea of what happened?

Also, I told the guys at the dealer that i was going to do this myself and they made no mention of bringing it in, that any of this could happen during the process. Thanks guys

HPFP was one of the codes showing, but there were a handful, it was like buy one get one at a flea market, all the codes getting thrown from my car.

Tried reverting to original start/stop button and same thing. I wonder if this would've been different if I DISCONNECTED the battery before disconnecting the button..??

DUDE!!! You never mess with a cars electronics w/o disconnecting the battery. Hopefully it's a easy fix. If not that's a tough lesson learned.

Is it really worth it to do an unnecessary cosmetic mod that does not improve the performance at the cost of loosing the warranty?

Hey now, that's the Honda S2000 button. Which I must mention that after 5 years of ownership (wife just replaced it), it was an amazing vehicle to drive once you learned on to work it!

I have nothing against Honda or that switch at all, I just think that would look horrifically out of place in our BMW's and would really stand out when it's really not meant to. That's all I'm saying haha

I've disconnected the start button before without disconnecting the battery with no probs.
I do know that the start button has a ribbon cable to it so unless you know which wire goes to what, you could have screwed up something.

It was a ribbon cable and as far as i know there is only one appropriate slot for the cable to nestle in behind the button. as far as the button goes, it is the stock button, just engraved and I received it as a birthday present.

Now...before the car gets towed to the dealership,. are they going to be fiddling around with my ecu? and notice that I have a jb2 installed? Will it be necessary for me to take it out, atleast as a precaution? Or is the ECU inspectino irrelevant to what is going on with my car.?

Maybe you fried some fuses by not properly disconnecting the battery before plugging and unplugging stuff. Pull a bunch of them and check. It's a pain, but it's happened to me when just plugging in my friggin phone charger or GPS... the car freaks out when some fuses are blown.

Just revert back to the OEM button. Everything should be fine. I've disconnected and connected mine several times without any problems. Just make sure you plug everything in properly.
