Returning leased car - remove tint?

I'm returning my 06 330i next month. Do I need to strip the tint on the car? It's a leased car.

You would have to check the contract but usually it's fine.

OK, it's not a factory tint either. It's tint that I added. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Not necessarily- "exactly how you got it" could mean that as long as the car doesn't have a huge spoiler or a crazy body kit on it then it's fine. There are things that are "allowed" on leases.

Personally I would check the contract or check with your dealer and see. I'm sure you can bring it in and ask them. If they say no then you can go ahead and remove it. If they say it's fine then you've just saved yourself some time & money.

If you have tint on the windshield, driver or passenger window that needs to come off. Everything else can stay on.

from bmwfs:
Presence of aftermarket tinted windows voids the BMW Lease-End Inspection Form and results in an additional inspection by a third party with a different set of standards.

The above statement is printed on your lease agreement. So, the above statement is true.

However, every dealer has there own leeway on what they will allow on your lease return. Some dealers will accept cars with tint. And some will not.

Call your dealer and just be honest with them and tell them that you have tint and see if they care or not. If they say that you cannot, then either you have to take off your tint or you can drop it off at another dealer.

YES, YOU CAN DROP YOUR CAR OFF AT ANY DEALER. You're not obligated to drop off your car at the dealer from which you leased it from.

My dealer does not care if you have tint on the windows when you return the car.

Good luck!

No, you definitely do not need to remove it.
I turned in my last E90 with tint and!!! Kersher front lip, ACS sideskirts and rear apron, deck spoiler, and blacklines with no complaints at all!

I guess it depends on the dealer.
I did not do it when I turned in my e60. Then the next day, the dealer sold it on their alot without the tint. The dealer took it off themselves. did not say anything.

if i were you, go to the dealer, if they say anything, take it off. it will be a pain though.

My dealer said its fine to leave it on after a lease. But then again every dealer is different.

This is what I got in the mail in my welcome package...

Not sure what "independent inspection company" means though.

It's really up to the dealer. If they tell you to take it off, then take it off. Otherwise don't waste your time. If you're buying a new car from them they are very easy going on the inspection...
