Any experience w/ AST Springs + Track Use?

AST springs for sure have the best look and the best price around. R33 mentioned that the downside to H&R/AST, etc. is that these setups affect the weight distribution of the vehicle which will be noticeable on the track/spirited driving.

I'm curious if anyone has first hand experience yet with this?

I'm so close to getting the ASTs, but I also want to do a couple track days. I mean, its an M, eh?

Honestly normal person who haven’t tracked would not notice anything from lowering springs unless they got an ebay one that just sucks terribly.

Either they think it’s stiff so it’s more performance or comfy enough that they think it’s “close to stock” . Absolutely pointless feedbacks in my opinion performance wise unless that person has been in lot of cars(like the vendor you mentioned). Seems like H&R also put out another trash according to facebook groups so I would avoid that. It’s just lowering springs so can’t expect that much out of it; only thing you can really do is wait for actual decent reviews and feedbacks from hardcore suspension guys

I have AST springs on my car, the ride is great and I plan on tracking the car a few times with them. I havent yet though, so no real feedback other than some highway miles.

Results expect to be negligible at best. Car will feel a bit more planted due to lower center of gravity, but don't expect any improvements or takeaways from any coil spring - including HAS kits.

Dampening is really the area that's most noticeable on the track, not springs. Most track veterans will be looking into a full coilover setup anyway.

It shouldn't HURT performance though... I went with springs to get a proper ride height while we deal with inventory shortages, shipping delays and vendors posting teasers with no ability to actually purchase the parts

Correct - shouldn't help nor hurt, other than small benefit of lower center of gravity.

Still have a couple of AST sets in stock at time of posting.
