My wife says that my car is "loud"!

I certainly like it that way but I find something interesting. I did the golf tee mod and both my wife and son said that the car did not sound as loud with the mod. So I put things back to stock. Not sure why it would sound quieter with the golf tee mod?

Are you sure you did it right? ...Mine is definitely louder. Not a performance exhaust loud but definitely louder and deeper than stock.

Nope, stuck a screw into the vacuum hose to plug the hose and then reconnected it back onto the muffler with a connector that I bought at the auto parts store.

it should definitely be much louder. try doing what the previous user stated: open the cover behind the left taillights and unplug the cord.

i hate how quiet the car is without the golf-T mod.

That would throw a code for sure. There are a good number of posts about it here if you do a search. The easiest way to do the Golf Tee mod is to get a steel ball of 7/32" dia. (like the ones in a ball bearing) and stick it into the hose and push it up far enough so you can plug the hose back to the muffler. Most hardware stores have this on their shelves. If not, even a 1/4" dia. ball can work too - although harder to push in the hose because of its slightly larger diameter.

I am afraid the problem may be that screw used did not completely eliminate the air flow in the line due to its size, placement, etc.

^it throws a hidden code - plug it in before you go back to the dealer, they'll clear the code and that's it.

How could it possibly sound quieter by having the butterfly valves open all the time. My exhaust sounds almost doubly as loud with the mod.

That is exactly what I did but I used a screw instead of a ball bearing and exhaust got quieter. I know it doesn't make sense to me but that is what happened.

refer to darkphantom's post. i've had my exhaust unplugged for the past eight months or so and haven't had any problems with my dealer and it's gone in for service about four times now (one of which they replaced my HPFP).
