Remove the K40, take the car somewhere else and hope that it's not tagged in a database.

My dealer had to replace my battery since my car kept dying after sitting for the weekend.
They notated that I had aftermarket DVD player and that there was XXX current draw more than was supposed to be there.
They replaced my battery, I took out my electrical mods and have not had my battery die again. I did leave the stuff in there for a few weeks and I had the same problem which is why I took it out. There is some merit as to why there is a drain on the battery but my stuff probably had much more current draw than your K40.

Talk to your dealer and be nice but firm that how could a XXX ma draw cause a bad battery.

This is horseshit...plain and simple. Like you mentioned the K40 is one of the "add on" items they try to sell you at the dealer when signing the paperwork. It's right up there with gap insurance and a clear bra.

Dealer installed options are not the same as factory options. Plus not every dealer offers K40's I know mine doesnt.

They might be petty but they have a case. I accidently left my radar on in my other car and didnt drive the car for a week or so (the radar was also malfunction which I didnt know and had a constant draw) I went to start my car and the battery was dead. It started right back up with a jump so all was ok.

But it is possible that your K40 did cause the draw. I would do as another said, take out the K40 and go to another dealer and hope its not in the system.

So is it necessary to replace the batter every time it dies? I thought that we could just jump it and drive around for a while to charge it.

Even if the K40 was drawing on the battery, doesn't that create a dead but rechargeable battery condition? as opposed to a 'shot' battery?

true, but automotive batteries tend to permanently loose a large amount of capacity when you drain them all the way.

You should fusetap to the "Homelink" sensor. I don't know the ## but Homelink goes off with the ignition so you wouldn't have a potential draw problem that way.

which advisor did you talk to? you can pm me the info if you want. I know some of the guys there pretty well.

your K40 should be tapped to a switched power source (only operates when vehicle is on). there shouldn't be a possibility of it sapping power if it is properly tapped in. look for the homelink or accessory (cigarette lighter) power. I believe the cig lighter is also switched, but you should check that.

where did you get the K40 installed?

don't forget with the colder weather, batteries tend to get more sensitive to draw
