Bmw owes me $247.85 and doesnt look like they want to give it back

Will make this short.

Took the car in for service when i started having long crank issues. My service adviser gave me a rental from enterprise (some chevy garbage) and told me my car would be ready by the next day. Next day comes and my car is not ready, it took them finally 5 days to fix the issue.

Well on my rental contract he stated the rental was only for 1 day, every extra day (4 extra days) i had to pay for it. Without knowing, i was charged $247.85. I called enterprise asking them what the charges were for and they detailed me the above.

So, i call BMW and speak to my adviser. He tells me its a big mistake and will refund me my money. It's now been near 2 months i still haven't received my money. I call once a week asking WTF is going on and he (my service adviser) just brushes me off with something new each time.

Enough is enough - im heading to the dealer this week and im going to cause some major headaches. In return for my patience and the inconvenience BMW have caused me would it be right to ask for a key chain? Or maybe something else? I can use some winter mats as well.

Im going to be getting my money back no matter what, fuck this dealership - i just want to know what else i can ask for.

I would have called the service manager, or the dealership manager after the the first time your SA did not give you a reasonable answer..

Service manager called. He said he's in the process of printing out a new checque for me... I will be picking up this checque rather then wait for them to mail it. The Service manager offered absolutely zero in return for the inconvenience. I told him I will be picking up my money and then never returning to that dealer again.

Unbelievable.

Talk to the General manager, Make use of your haggling skills and NEVER, NEVER take the first offer. Always try to get more. If i were you i'd get some allweather floor mats, definitely a full detail, oil change, wipers, topped off fluids, the money, and a BMW keychain, oh, and a t-shirt

Really? If the Service manager isnt budging you guys think i should talk to the GM instead? The service manager is not offering jack all. I know the GM has the final say but i was just going to pick up my money and pretty much guarantee the SM that i wasnt going to ever come to that dealer again.

Sounds like a simple mistake, followed by poor customer service from the dealership. Get the cheque, then vote with your wallet in the future.

Do you have customer service surveys from BMW CA after a service visit? You can also use that to provide feedback.

Going to the dealership and demanding free stuff is not the way to resolve it.

My past experience tells me that the best way to address these kind of issues if climb up all the way to the top of the food chain. Get the guy who actually CAN make decisions. Be very respectful and polite and you'll get your money.

Can someone explain when an Enterprise car is issued, and when a BMW loaner is used? I'm always given the BMW. There is still a formal contract written, but the price is 0, as stated on the contract. I feel that this way, when the dealership calls at 4 pm and says they need my car another day for a routine oil change (BMW is just as bad as anyone else in overbooking and putting preference on paying customers as opposed to warranty), that's fine, I've got a BMW loaner. If I had a Kia Spectra that they're gonna charge me for because only the 1st day were free, that's not ok, wrap it up and give me my car back as promised, on day 1.

I would normally advise the OP to dispute the charges on the credit card, but it wouldn't work in this case because there is a signed contract advising of charges I'm sure.

The dealership should make good imho.

Good for you, you should get your money back. They promised it to you, they better make good. Seriously, what kind of stuff is the SA making up?

I was promised an AMEX gift card when I bought my car, and they never gave it to me. My wife told me to let it go, so I did. In principle, I should have made them give it up. Can you believe in this day and age they said it probably got lost in the mail? Yeah, right. One client gave me a $500 gas card--it was sent registered and return receipt. The dealership wants to claim a $500 card got lost in the mail....jokers!

Well, you know that BMW doesn't owe you jack, the dealership does. Personally, I'd just e-mail the GM for the dealership, copy your SA on the e-mail, and ask for them to clear the bill. If I were to ask for something for my trouble, I'd ask for a free or discounted oil change, or to get an M3 the next time I'm in for service. I'm easy to please, I guess.

Sorry, that was a typo. The card that I did get was for gas and $500. The dealership promised me "a" gift card, and the CA said she thinks it's $200 (or did she just make the whole thing up?). After asking her twice, and being told the
GM told her it was sent twice, and then the third time being told it was probably lost in the mail, my wife said don't beg them for that amount, just let it go....

I'm sure they would be equally understanding if your next monthly payment got "lost in the mail"
