Retrofit NBT EVO into my 2014 335i
Hi there,
Hope you all have a good day! I am considering to retrofit a newer HU NBT EVO into my 2014 335i. The goal is to be able use the Carplay. I believe that the car has the NBT. The car's last 7 digit of VIN is: NR92538. I would like to know if I want to get the NBT EVO retrofitted done, what parts do I need? Besides the HU and touch screen, what else do I need? Is my current controller compatible with the newer HU? Do I need an ATM? Thanks for any input, Last edited by Kfc2; 09-01-2021 at 11:14 PM.. |

You car does seem to have the option of carplay. For this you will have to change the whole headunit to a compatible one. The headunit should come with controller and other wiring harnesses to fit your current car. And after that the unit has to be coded and programmed. Second option which is a bit cheaper is to fit a bmw mmi which has carplay support. The second option is not OEM product. You can find these items at bimmer tech and they will provide technical support and program the unit remotely. If you prefer to go DIY, look online for compatible units fits and programming it yourself

Thanks for the suggestions!
I would like to stay on the OEM approach. Seems like the NBT Evo ID6 could come with the blue GPS connector. If I get one used NBT Evo ID6 on ebay, how difficult the coding could be? I have done a back up camera retrofit and some simple coding in the past. I would like to know if coding the NBT Evo is something that I could handle by myself. |

Coding the module shouldn't be that difficult, it requires flashing it using esys. You could look for guides to make sure everything is done well for a successful retrofit.https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1781259

I am getting ready to do the NBT Evo and 6WB retrofit.
I only have an old E-sys in 3.24.3 Do I need to upgrade it? Which version is needed to do these jobs? Thank you, |

Choosing a Head Unit
I am planning to update my head unit from an Entry NBT/CIC. Has the 6 pin LVDS plug but was manufactured in May 2012. I have two head unit options (have the VIN for both). Primary goal is navigation, but would also like to get native CarPlay, albet do not think any of them have it. Any way to upgrade/flash CarPlay into them?
Which head unit should I install? Listed my current unit in the first column, side by side with the other two units...feature by feature: |
