There have been some requests for further explanation of the time the MSS kit takes to settle so I'm posting this to explain with advice from MSS themselves.

MSS use well known German manufacturer Eibach for the springs used in their kits. These are made to MSS specifications. Eibach have a range springs called ERS - Eibach Race Springs. These are specifically made for Motorsport and the raw material is different to their standard Pro-kit or S-line springs.

ERS can withstand the greater heat cycles to be expected in race conditions regardless of the discipline - F1; rally; endurance racing and the like.

MSS chose this material over the standard Eibach Pro-Kit for quality and longevity which is reflected in the lifetime warranty provided by MSS. These springs will take longer to settle but then will not sag over time like springs made from other materials.

MSS state the settling period is 2000 miles but this obviously depends on the type of driving and type of roads the car is driven on. It can be a lot less than this with spirited driving which will compress the suspension more than just cruising on the highway.

Here are some pictures of Evolve's shop car and our friends Basic Performance shop car which were the first cars to be fitted with the MSS HAS kit.

Also important to bear in mind that MSS engineer their kits primarily with ride comfort and handling in mind. They won't sacrifice these two attributes for maximum lowering on stock dampers.

Just fitted my kit yesterday and I'm very happy with it.


The ride quality is just like the stock which is what I want with no noticeable change over the OEM set up. (my wife will never know that the car has new suspension )

This is a picture of the car straight off the lift with no miles. It already looks better than stock but look forward to getting some miles on it and settling in.

Still doesn't look good to me in any of those pictures, rear is more saggy than the front even after the so-called 2000 adjustment period. To each their own I suppose.

So the car stock from the factory (G80) comes with the rear lower that the front (fender gap wise that is) for rear squat Id assume.

At first I was thinking I just want the fender gaps even but am revisiting what I finally want (which I can adjust easily with MSS). I do want a little more settling up front for sure.

The rear of an M3 is supposed to sit lower than the front to achieve 50:50 weight distribution given the front is heavier. This has always been the case

This 'rake' idea is purely for aesthetics.

If you want the perfect 'stance' you're probably going to need coilovers and you're probably going to have over steer / worse handling than stock if the back end is lighter than the front

Just not good enough, need full coils. I’m never going springs only again, learned my lesson with last two cars I tried them on.

On my M4 the front and rear are pretty even stock. I'd want to keep the same proportions with springs. Hopefully, the KW HAS I have coming will do the job.

I wonder why the M3's rear has more squat than the M4.

M4's start out higher than M3's for sure... in the rear. But to your point Im not sure why. r33_RGSport lowered a G82 one day before mine and said it was like 20mm higher off the tire in the rear stockwise.

Had mine on for about 3 weeks now. Did some spirited canyon driving and a track day. Settled a tad but no where near what Im looking for.

KW released the full coil overs and they claim a bit more drop in front but for 6K$

I don't really want another slammed car.

It's just too much of a hassle.

Trent, that drop is perfect for me. I definitely still want some space between the tire and fender. Neither am I slammed guy, I just want a subtle drop...especially in the front. How's the ride compared to stock at your height?

Compared to stock it's 10-15% stiffer but only really noticeable over the bumpiest of sections here in Orange County(very nice roads).

I'm super happy with it like I said and only the steepest of driveways have even come close to scraping.

I've got 18mm spacers up front so it does in fact rub on ps4s while I'm backing up at about 80% lock.

Yeah we went with the stock rake and the rear still has like 10mm available on the collars.

I'd say I'm 12-1500 miles of good dynamic driving into them.

I saw that mss finally released their statement on why they take so long to settle and their explanation basically points to quality of product so I'm a happy customer.

I like your drop, I have mss kit on order. I have driven slammed cars before and it just feels like a hassle now. Specially here in Houston where the roads are not as nice as Cali lol now wondering if I should wait until after the breaking period to install the springs that way I can do some nice driving.
