No use to ask this question of folks in LA, MS, most of TX, FL, SoCal, I'd imagine the Carolinas and such, too. Heck, below the M-D line even if it does snow, it's not enough to worry with winter tires/wheels, I'd guess.

Yankees.

1998 Ford F250HD with plow and 4 studded snows for when the white stuff blows. Otherwise I'm in an '01 Saab 9-5 Aero with Nokian Hakka Ones on all four corners, and heated seats. Verrry nice winter beater. I wonder if you fair weather guys even know what a winter beater is?
On the other hand I do like the ability of my 335 to hold a preset cabin temperature for 20 minutes or so when the engine is off. Someone in Munich was thinking on that one!

E34 525i. I wouldn't really call it a beater because I take better care of it then most folks with their DD.

Once I make up my mind, it will be superseded by an 08 X6 xDrive50 or a E92 335xi. (I can't imagine the X6 is good in the snow with its 305 width rear tires...)

houston's winter is not as brutal as other parts of the country, so mine is the year round grinder.

the BMW is my winter car. I drive a roadster in the Summer.

I feel sorry for you warm weather people. When I lived in Texas I used to go mudding to have some fun. Now I can go "off roading" on my way home from work in the winter with a good snow storm. I love driving in snow!

This will be my first winter with my MDX. The previous 6 winters I put snow tires on my sedans, an '02 540 and an '05 E55. They were pretty good, but I can't wait for AWD.

Winter? I'm not sure if we have winter season here in Southern California. I drive my Bimmer year round. Rain, dry, cold, hot, windy and what else? No, it doesn't snow here but we do have snow up in the mountains. I drive my Jeep Grand Cherokee to snow-capped mountains for weekend fun.

Sometimes I had to drive my Bimmer in heavy rain (summer tires) and boy, they're almost slippery. I get yellow warning on my dashboard often(thanks to nanny-thingie known as DCT/DSC).

We don't EVEN have to buy winter tires like most of you do that in East & northeast.
