Finally dumped RFT's

I don't want to post another tirade against RFT's but I can't describe how much better my ride is. I switched from 17's Bridgestones to 18's Yokohama S4's, changed to a staggered set up with 255 in the rear. Had the car lowered already before with H&R sport springs. The ride before was just horrible, almost embarassing when I had some other people in the car. My dad once almost lost his dentures when I hit a pothole.
All gone now. Rides as well as my S4. Firm but not harsh and much more forgiving.
AAA membership, got the BMW mobility kit. And a little bit of good fortune.
Truely enjoy my car so much more.

is the ride that much better with the H&R springs and non-RFTs? What's your opinion on the whole 'springs on xi without shocks' issue? I've always wanted to lower the car, but coilovers for the xi are too expensive (KW3 being the only option).

Coilover are clearly better if you can afford it. However unless you track the car it is not necessary IMO. There is a bit of a "wallowing" with the springs only when you hit uneven surface or ups and downs @80mph on the highway but I don't think it's that big of a deal. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time, I'd wait until the shocks are gone in a few years and perhaps then replace what you had. The car looks so much better lowered and also corners better with the sport springs.
