Question on Alignment

Is the camber adjustable on the new E92 M3? I'm planning on lowering, but not sure about the spec on the car on adjustments. Thanks

Hi Mate,

I have confirmed with my local BMW dealership in Brunei and ex-BMW dealership in Australia, that the camber can be adjusted at any Wheel services shop.

My bro-in-law who owns a Tyre & Wheels services shop has recommended me the H&R springs for vehicles that have the EDC. Have a look at the link:

http://hrsprings.com/scripts/appguid...|%20M3%20Coupe

I would show you a pic of my vehicle but my springs are on order. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your response. That is actually great. I am ordering H7Rs as well. Just did not know if the canber was adjustable, now I know... Thank you for your help.

its always a pleasure to help when possible... although i am wondering when SPC and/or H&R will release their own camber kit. Will you be running the stock 18s or are you running 19s?

I suppose not worth having unless either one of us use our cars on the track.

Sigh! wish we had a track in Brunei. haha!

I'll be running 19", but I'm not planning on tracking the car, well maybe once... :-) Dinan has a -3 deg. camber kit that will set your camber 13 deg. that will be ok for tracking I'm asuming. I really do not know much about that, since I've never tracked a car in my life...

Oh... you will love tracking the car. I tracked my JCW MCS back in Melbourne and Perth when I lived there. Now my tracks are the open roads and bends in the early mornings when no one is about.

What 19s will you be running? I tried a set of Breyton Flames on my car at my Bro-in-law's shop. They look insane but somehow, the stock 18s look pretty rad.

Have a look and feel free to comment:

I love those Breyton wheels.... I think that I'll be running the stock 19", for now anyways... I might go with 20" (maybe)... But I thought about the Breytons for the car...

I was told that a little of negative camber is good and your tired will wear out less on the outside when spirited driving, especially on twisties.

max i could get was 1.8 in the front.... with H&R...

you don't really want more in the rear...

so stay around 1.8 or 1.7 in the front.. and 1.7 or 1.6 in the rear...

that should be fine for street/track....

On the e46, I used to run 2.25 degrees negative in the front and 1.5 negative in the rear. I also ran 0 toe in the rear and some mininal amount in the front. The settings worked really well in the front where my street tires (PS2s) went around 20k miles and my track tires wore evenly. It was a different story in the rear where I would eat a set of PS2s in about 8000 miles with more wear on the inside. I wore the track tires very evenly in the rear at twice the rate of the fronts.

KINGLEH,
What were the camber and toe settings on your car before and after?

I think I read that Dinan has something that can get you more negative camber in the front. 1.8 isn't very much for a combination street/track car.

The stock shock towers allow for almost no camber adjustment. What do you mean by "max I could get was 1.8..."?

Did you go from neg 1.1 FC to neg 1.8 FC by replacing the stock springs with H&R springs?

Sure is, I pushed mine to a little past ~1.4 or so. I'll check the exact specs.

Hi mate...

Pardon my ignorance but i was just curious if i needed/crucial to adjust my wheel camber settings once i change my stock springs to the H&R.

Thoughts?

Elm3,

so do you reckon i should upgrade to the Breyton Flames? My bro-in-law is extending a super generous offer to me but i am fighting temptation as hard as i can for now.

I was criticized by a good mate that if i went to the the Breytons then i may as well give up the car cos i am spoiling the brand and exclusiveness of the M. What do you think?

I do not think that you are spoiling the car M... They are real nice and if I had the chance that you have, I would def. would buy those wheels.... Good luck with your choice. Remember, it is always your opinion that counts, not somebody else's, especially if they do not have an M3... :-)

I don't think you'll need to adjust your front camber since you're not lowering the front by much.

The little bit of extra negative camber should be fine even for mostly street driving, but it is worth getting an alignment to reset the toe. If you have too much toe out in front turn-in will be very responsive (which can be nice), but tire wear will also increase quite a bit.

Had my H&Rs aligned today.

The mechanic told me that the fronts are at -1.6/-1.7 and rears are at -1.7/-1.7, and cannot go anymore positive on the front unless I get camber plates. Toes are set to 0.2.

He said that after the drop the front toe is completely off, but the rears are ok.

+1,Elm3 was wondering about camber adjustment, toe adjustment shouldn't be a problem.

For the references to front camber adjustment in this thread, I assume people are doing pin removal to change their non-lowered stock front camber. On the e46 it was good for about .5 degrees. Does anyone know what the e92 maxes out at using the stock slots without the pin?
