Heya guys.
About a week ago my engine light turned on doing a 1 hour trip.
The dash showed something along the lines of engine fault, reduced power.

I was close to a garage which deleted the code and send me on my way without looking at it. Today the light lit up again. This time I was almost home and got to check the code myself.

The code I got was P1061 VVT-limp home request RPM and air mass limitation.

I can't however find any information about this code. Searching for P1061 gives me a completely different fault description. Something about air intake sensor temperature which I remember the guy at the garage mentioning aswell.

Looking trough the e90 fault codes that have once been posted on a BMW forum everything is on there except p1061

I used an autell reader to find this code myself.

I was wondering if anyone could explain to me where this fault code might come from and how to maybe fix it.

I did notice today that my exhaust sounds like it has a leak and was wondering if this might be the cause.

Check if Valvetronic position sensor is connected. And after this check using inpa if valvetronic works and is not in max lift using the air intake valve to regulare air intake
