328xi wheel options / interchangability with other BMW wheels
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum, and I've looked around for these answers, but without luck. Also checked the wheel/tire forum, and didn't see anything obvious. I've got the standard wheels (style 156, 16inch) on my 2007 328xi (w/ TPMS). I want to get another set of wheels for the summer, and keep the 16's for winter driving only. I'm looking for a set of non-staggered 17's, preferably other BMW take-offs. This being my first AWD car, I'm curious if ALL of the E90/E92 wheels that come in 17" and possibly 18", non-staggered will fit this car without problems. (i.e. offsets, rubbing on suspension components, etc) Rolling diameter is obviously not a problem, since non-staggered. |

All take-offs will fit. Unless you lower your car, it should not rub with correct tire sizes.

IMO if your going to buy summer wheels at least go 18". i would not waste my money on OEM looking wheels that are 17". nothing will look special or different.
try to find 2 sets of front 189s 18x8 with 235/40 size tires

Thanks for the input guys -
I have considered the 18's, but living up in the mountains and frequently going down dirt / gravel roads (I rock-climb) I think the 17s are a bit safer from damage. It's been a dilemma though. There are some really nice 18" wheels out there. I think that the spirited driving will gain greatly by going from 205/16 to 225/17, but I won't run into issues with nasty roads as quickly - compromises... |
