E92 335i Rear Fog Light Activation
I am wondering if anyone here (maybe someone from Europe) can confirm if Euro E92's that come standard with the rear fog light function illuminate rear fog lamps on both the rear left and the right hand side of the car or only on the left side. I have a European switch to install which incorporates the rear fog light switch and as I understand it will work. But, in all of the posts I have seen showing pics of the fog lamp(s) on both left and right sides are lit in the rear. In every European car I have ever owned with this option only the rear fog light on the left/drivers side rear was ever lit.
Does installing the switch alone properly activate this funtion and it is correct to have both rear lamps lit as fog lamps or should only one lamp light and thus installing the switch alone only gets it working halfway correctly? |

Yep - I am aware that both fog lamps will light up if you install the Euro switch in a US E92 - what I am wondering is do they function the same way in a EU E92 (i.e., both lamps light or is it just the left lit on a EU E92)
Thanks all for the reply thus far - much appreciated. Just wanted to know if the functionality of the rear fog lamps was different if you were on the other side of the pond. |

Some cars, Volvo definitely, probably SAAB and I think Audi, VW and Porsche if you buy the euro-cluster or activate the rear fog use the asymmetrical approach. From what I've seen, Jaguar and Mercedes use two rear fogs. The reason for using one is so that people following don't mistake the fogs for brake lights.
AFAIK, the ones that don't remove or deactivate the rear fogs for the US market at this time are Jaguar, SAAB and Volvo. On my Volvo I just use it when it's seriously foggy.

2008 E90 335xi, switch installed. it's a plug and play (bsamoul) got it right on the install instructions. My wife's Volvo (both old and new S60's) had a rear fog light switch. Snooped around in the trunk at the rear lights. Volvo only but a bulb on the drivers side. Passanger side had a small plastic tab to pull out of the way. 1157 bulb popped right in and has worked perfectly ever since. Give it a shot. Good luck!

I got stuck behind someone in a new A4 with temp tags this morning who didn't know how to work his lights too well.
My scorched retinas can confirm that '09 A4's have 2 VERY bright rear fog lights that are not disabled in the USA!
